Our first visit to Buckle - we stayed Fri - Sun as we were going to a 70s weekend at the Brighton Centre on the Sat night. Arriving on Fri afternoon, the guy on reception was very friendly and the site is very cheap ! The field ( B ) we were in is shielded from the strong costal winds and the plots are level and clean. The whole place is basic and adequate and a great location. Morrisons is half a mile away, its right on the sea and 300yrd from Bishopstone Railway Station. Toilet and shower blocks were basic and clean - Will definitely go back - Great little place.

Pitch is flat with loads of room for kids to run around in and the clubhouse was fairly well maintained, but the rest of the site looks unloved and needs maintenance. The toilet/shower block near the camping field is pretty basic, the showers are the push button type, each push lasting about 20 seconds and the shower heads in need of a good descaling. The other block near the front entrance is better, but quite a walk if you are camping. The plus side is the location, 30 seconds to the beach, 3 minutes to the train station with trains every 30 minutes to Brighton. 15 minute stroll into seaford or a 5 minute car ride to newhaven. I wouldn't recommend a long stay, but it is cheap and has great location.

Myself and 7 friends have just got home from a 3 nights stay over the Easter Bank Holiday in our VW campervans. It was our first time at The Buckle Holiday Park and if I'm honest, we didn't expect a lot due to the cheap price, but I've got to say we were very pleasantly surprised!
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The club house/bar was great and everyone in there very friendly too. There's a pool tablet, a flat screen for sports and also a couple of games machines. Oh and there is also a burger van on site that does some fantastic food!
Yes the site is a little basic but to be honest that's what's nice about it. It is what it is.
The toilets and showers are a little on the small side but its really wasn't an issue. We always found them to be clean and fresh and there was always hot water too.
The location is fantastic! The beach is literally just over the bank, Seaford town is only a 10 minute walk away. There are also some great attractions nearby too.
We will defo be booking in again this year and can't wait!

Back from another pleasant stay at Buckle.
Yes, this place is basic, but that's part of the charm.
The previous review was a bit scathing and factually incorrect. There are two toilet blocks, plus a bar, so I've never had to queue in a dozen visits.
The staff are all lovely and do their utmost to help and have a great local knowledge.
I'll definitely be back throughout the summer. The location is perfect for the beach, Seaford, Newhaven and Brighton.
The only improvement I can think of is a small playground. There's already a small football pitch, but some slides and swings wouldn't go amiss!

First sunny weekend of the year so decided to have a night away somewhere local. The best thing about this site is the location, literally a stone throw from the beach, no sea views due to the high bank though. For me, that's the only good thing, the facilities are so old and dated and the website says they have 150 pitches but they only have 3 gents toilets and showers, the roads around the site pot holed, the lights around the site broken in places. Generally the site looks unloved which is a shame because it could be stunning if someone was bothered!
There is a nearby train line which didn't bother us noise wise nor did the noise from the nearby road.

Location, location, location. We've been using this site for many years now, because of this. There isn't anything else in the area, is there ?
Agree with the previous reviews. The welcome and general helpfulness have improved a great deal from how they used to be, but the facilities have not. The electricity supply is apparently pretty low-amp, be careful. I see a previous review says there is no laundry: not true, there is a washing machine, get the key from reception.
The half-hourly 120 bus from Seaford (Morrisons) will drop you outside the site if you ask the driver nicely.

We stayed here for 3 nights as the location was ideal for us visiting the Eastbourne Airshow.
The owners seemed quite casual when we were booking which made us a little nervous if we would turn up to find no pitch but we neednt have worried. They helpfully put us as near as possible to our relatives who were using their trailer tent and needed electric hook up.
The Good:
Location great, beach literally a stones throw away and the train station a very short walk which we then used to get to Eastbourne.
Trains - they are very quiet, was concerned as the track so close but needn't have worried. Only noise they made was tooting for the crossing.
Field for playing football (including 2 nets)
Toilets were always kept clean
Staff were all very friendly
The not-so-good:
Very hard ground - a number of my storm force pegs ended up getting bent, you will definitely need a mallet to get them in. Pretty tough to get out afterwards as well!
Shower and toilet cubicles small - you need to put a leg each side of the toilet so that you can get the door open so you can get out again! Shower head not adjustable so you have to endure freezing cold water initially until it warms up as there is nowhere to hide!
Overall, a basic site which could do with some modernising, but the location more than made up for it and we would return

We booked a week for our folding camper with electric and 6 people. The price was really cheap compared to others. We are just about to finish our week and can say its been great. The staff were more than friendly when I asked at 10am when we could pitch up and said our pitch was already vacant and therefore could set up. The showers and toilet block is basic but kept clean and stocked- more than I expected by price! The site looked big but once on you don't get the feel of a large site. The people on site have been helpful and for the first time ever my partner has caught fish off the beach with that assistance. The beach is just over the brow where it said it would be. The site hasn't got many rules but common sense has ruled. I would recommend this site as long as you wanted a no frills camping base. If I was to come this way again I would certainly return here. Thank you buckle campsite

This is a nice, clean campsite, very close to the pebbled beach.
The toilets and showers are a bit small and dated had had the feel that you were in a shed with not much room for getting dressed etc. They are however clean with warm water.
There is a field area for ball games, but no park, but with the beach being so close it really doesn't matter.
It is very close to a train line, and yes you can hear the trains, but it wasn't something that we found annoying, as it wasn't very busy.
Generally the place is quite basic and a little run down, and I would only stay as a weekend ( as we did for the airshow) and don't think I would recommend for a whole week.

We booked this site for convenience rather than for the views. To be honest, the entrance looked untidy and unkempt. We thought it was over priced for what was offered. No WIFI, no laundry. However the showers were hot (although the pressure wasn't very good) and electricity was available. There was access to the beach, and plenty of dogs around although there were restrictions to the beach. Definitely not a place to recommend - it is a site in need of TLC.
