This campsite is very different to ones that I have stayed at before, as there are codes for the toilet block, as well as the barrier to enter the campsite. Although annoying to remember to take the code with you, this is good for security and makes you feel safe. The staff member’s were pleasant at all times.

Although we were not travelling with children, there is enough room for them to play with their games / bikes etc. There is no children's play area, so definitely bring something to amuse the kids.

The actual campsite consists of a large field and does have a number of electrical points. Although very busy over the bank holiday weekend, we weren’t all crammed in. We did have a gazebo as well as our tent, which gave us that additional privacy.

The toilet block is clean and although basic, is what you need/want. In the ladies, there is four toilet cubical and two showers. The water is strong but very hot. The hand dryer is not very good, so I would suggest taking a hand towel to the bathroom. There is an area for washing up, with four sinks, a washing machine and tumble dryer.

The area is what makes this campsite a fantastic base. At the edge of the camping field there is a style, which takes you on a two-minute walk through a small field to the River Thames and the Half Penny Bridge. There are a lot of swans and ducks, so remember to take some extra bread as it’s very well received.

The other side of the bridge is a pub with a very large garden and does sometimes have live music on. The village of Lechlade is very nice and has a Co Op and a butcher / Greengrocer for food bits. You are close to some other lovely villages and towns, including Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water, so this campsite is a great way to start your exploring of the Cotswolds.

Overall I would definitely recommend this campsite and I will also be returning with friends and family members in the near future.

The site has lovely views of the Thames and is great for walks , but as others said, the only way into Lechlade is along a busy road with no pavement or over a stile set in a gate. The latter was fine for us agile pensioners but the field path was muddy in wet weather.

There was some road noise from people driving much too fast in the early hours.

The shower block was clean but the water came out with such ferocity that it almost hurt. Lower water pressure and a higher temperature would help. The owners were very friendly when we arrived and there weren't many people there in June.

My husband and I booked with 1 weeks notice via the phone, the lady who took my booking was very pleasant and we were met at the gate on our arrival at about 7pm - it was unfortunate that there had been an awful lot of rain over the previous week which meant the lower part of the field had been closed. This meant we were packed into the top field which I must admit felt a bit overcrowded. We had a spot by the hedgeline and although the road is a little way away we were still disturbed by traffic at night - however I'd like to add that we do live in the middle of no where so any traffic is more than we are used to.
There is a tricky style to climb to get onto the footpath which takes you to the town, but appart from that Lechlade itself is lovely, and the locals are very friendly and the Chip shop does great chips.
The site was clean and tidy even though it was busy, and the owners seemed to always be on hand should anyone need them. Due to previous reviews I didn't use the toilet and shower facilities but the disposal point was spacious clean and at a useful height.
I would recomend this site to the more agile among you only due to the tricky style, there were lots of children all happliy playing on what looked to be a nice safe site, I'm sure we will visit again.

We have stayed here 3 times in all,  going again this weekend.

Yes the toilet block is a bit jaded,  but more then makes up for it with the lovely surroundings.

Nice pubs in the village, sometimes have music on a saturday night.

Ample stock at the supermarket. Not to far to walk either.

The antique shops are nice to while away a few hours.
The owners are very nice and the site is relaxed although can be a tad noisy at night, but most are.

I like this site and have been many times. It is very much at it's best when quiet as noise and crowds at peak times easily mar this otherwise peaceful spot. Owners are friendly and are slowly upgrading the facilities. Walks by the Thames are great and everything required is only over the bridge in Lechlade. I camp with two 8 year old children and their cousins who all love the place and have never had any problems. Great place.

I concur with all of the other reviews say about the camp.  I took a toddler in a pram and two dogs (one of which on the large size).  You can leave the camp on foot by the main gate - but there is no footpath and the road is narrow and busy - so we chose to take the second option of escape - via a wired up high metal gate with a mud patch on one side and concrete on the other.  Transporting a baby and pushchair was not much fun at all, and my sheepdog had great fun limboing under the gate.  So unless you are over10 yrs and reasonably agile this is not the place for you.

We only spent one night and quite honestly that was one night too many - we shall not be returning.

A fairly basic campsite with nothing but a toilet / shower block and washing-up point. However, it's surrounded by lovely views and nice walks (if you've got a dog or a pushchair, you'll have to lift them over a gate to get to the Thames Path).

Lechlade is a quaint old town, 5 minutes walk away, with pubs, antique shops and at least one 'Ye Olde Tea Shoppe'. Access to the town is across the field to the bridge, as there is no footpath on the main road. There is ample scope for walks along the Thames Path in both directions.

The toilet block isn't the best, but nor is it the worst and it's far from dirty although the toilet bowls are a bit stained. Road noise isn't an issue either.

Finding a pitch is strange. Whilst it's just field like most tent areas, it got busy enough that there wasn't enough room for everyone to just pitch around the perimeter. You just need to pick a free spot anywhere as there are no tracks or paths across the field to obstruct. Just ensure you don't block the last route to any part of the field.

We stayed over Easter & booked late so were pleased to get an ehu pitch. The site is in a beautiful setting with views across a field to the Thames & the barges, with the church in the background.

For such a lovely setting the site needs to smarten up a bit, the field is very uneven & the ehu are on one side with no obvious pitches. There are some ehu in the middle of the field too but the units are parked all over the place & even though we had a pitch reserved it was impossible to see where! We sort of plonked ourselves where we though we wouldn't block peoples views!

The toilets & showers were well not very nice .. we didn't shower the whole weekend that should tell you everything you need to know!

Its a real shame cause it would be a gorgeous site with just a bit of money chucked at it! If you are happy to use all your own facilities it'll be fine & it is a 5 min walk to the riverside pub!

This site is basically a large field adjacent to the main road which runs through Lechlade, on the south side of the River Thames. However, while fairly busy during the day the road is quiet at night and traffic lights at the river bridge control the speed of traffic so there is very little noise. The field is also set back from the road and bordered by trees and shrubbery. A very nice setting and only a 5 minute walk to the river and bridge, beyond which is the town. It was also pleasing that other campers respected the peace and quiet after dark.

Lechlade is a haven for antique lovers with several antique shops selling everything from small collectables to furniture. There seems to be more pubs, restaurants, and hotels than residences - or maybe all the residents live in the pubs and hotels, but it is certainly a quaint town in a lovely river setting with miles of the Thames Path to walk along, boat hire, and of course, riverside pubs.

The campsite does not have a shop but a small supermarket in the town seems to provide all requirements. I was particularly pleased that they catered for individuals or couples by selling food in smaller quantities as well as larger family packs. Travelling alone, I often find I have to buy much more food than I require and then waste half of it because it won't keep. There is also a hardware shop in the town selling a few camping bits and pieces.

A small section of the 'field' was reserved for electric hook-ups on marked pitches but the main field was just a case of finding a spot and staking your claim. The field was flat and the grass kept short but not manicured. It was a pleasure not to be ankle deep in wet grass cuttings! There was no pressure to arrive or leave at any particular time, the owner being very flexible.

It is a fairly basic site but with all the usual requirements, however, I have to say that the toilets were the dirtiest I have experienced even though my first visit was immediately after the 'cleaners' left. The toilet pans do not look as if they have seen any bleach in years and you wouldn't want to touch the loo brushes even with Marigolds on, but the floor was clean and the washbasins were clean - although no provision of soap or hand dryers - but at only £4 per night as a single person they were moderately more convenient than a bucket in the tent! A shame really because if there was a clean and modern toilet block this site would be pretty close to ideal.
