Our first Scottish holiday and first without the children! I had studied this website beforehand to try and pick sites that would suit us. This was the second site we used on our break following a few days around Dumfries & Galloway.
The caravan park is easy to find and just outside the lovely town of Inveraray on the shores of Loch Fyne. Reception staff were helpful and we were taken to our pitch. The touring pitches are seperate from the main part of the site where the statics are located and furthest from the main site facilities. However the touring area has an adequate clean and tidy toilet/shower block with free showers and hot water.
We had no cause to use any of the on-site facilities (bar, restaurant etc) as we popped into Inveraray each evening to walk along the loch, we sampled the (excellent) fish and chips from the local shop, dined at The George (more than once) and visited the Loch Fyne famous Oyster restaurant (expensive but once in a life time!) Inverarary is a pleasant touristy spot, both the jail and castle well worth a visit, we spent one afternoon walking the dog round the castle estate into the forest. We also travelled from here to Crinnan (canal) and Oban and the other lochs. Stunning scenery.
Back at the caravan park in the evening it was quiet and peaceful, always a good time to tour late September/October if you like it this way, nothing disturbed my sleep except my husbands contented snoring after a good meal, a pleasant evening and an enjoyable stay at at this site!

Absolutely fantastic place. Stayed there last night and had a marvellous time. A good walk into Inverary for the dogs, hardly anyone there so we got a good pitch next to the toilet blocks. Electric hookups every few feet with fresh water on tap. Chemical waste and waste drains were clean and easy to use. Facilities were spotless and very well laid out for wheelchair users. Midges were a problem but that's Western Scotland for ya. They're everywhere (take Avons skin so soft). The people helped us and then left us alone. Great pint of Guiness to be had at the bar £2.55 a pint though! The views were spectacular. Had to go past the private Statics to get to the Douglas Valley where the tourers were pitched. We noted that there are no tent pitches at this site any more since April 1st 2006, notices everywhere stating this and we didn't see any tents.

We arrived on the Monday afternoon , in glorious sunshine , pitched and just vegged basically , due to its location , this is a very peaceful and relaxing place to be. It was very quiet for the time of year , with plenty of space to pitch , I can imagine it getting quite claustrophobic the busier it gets , but we enjoyed the room and the weather for two days. The facilities are good , great showers , dishwashing close also, however the reception and shop were a good 5 min walk from the camping field , no real problem in the car tho. Loch Fyne is a stones throw away , with veiws to die for, so all in all a site we will be visiting in future

June 2005 Visited recently with my husband and our dog, for a few nights. On arrival the campsite looked very nice, beautiful views and well kept. The actual tent and touring field is quite some distance from the reception and bar/shop, past private holiday homes and did feel abit of an after thought. The field is flat although we had to be careful where we pitched our tent, as the grass was very uneven in places and actually we did have problems with pools of water following heavy rain. The facilities were nice and clean and plenty of hot water for free, with a hair dryer in one of the blocks ( 2 blocks one slightly back off the field which was almost always empty!) The major problem for us was the midges which were dreadful and just laughed at our attempts to repell them! If we had had the children with us or wanted to spend much time on the site I think we might have considered leaving early and moving on. The site is well situated if you want to be central for touring the area, and there are plenty of things to do. The nearest town, Inverary is 5-10 minutes by car but really too far to walk to the pub and back! A beautiful part of Scotland to visit.

April 2005 We went to this site as we know folk who have statics here.
The camping field has lovely views over the loch but can be a bit windy. We were told by our friends that they really pack the tents in the summer and as there are only a couple of showers and loos in both blocks and only 3 pot washing sinks I dont think it would be much fun. (Still haven't figured out why there were 4 shaving points but no hairdryers in the ladies!!)
A nice clean site with loads to see in the area - we didnt take my daughter this time but always check out the playparks available - theres a small one next to the reception and an indoor hall for badminton etc which is good. But only a swing and tiny climbing frame on the tent field.

August 2003 Good site, very handy for Inveraray and subsequent tourist attractions. Good wildlife park almost attached to the site, beautiful views over Loch Fyne, bar ok, shop good, toilet and shower facilities clean and convenient. Just be sure to buy midge repellent though!!

july 2003 great site, very clean and tidy. the toilets were kept very clean and very near the pitches. The site had a nice bar but I found the food expensive, so take your own in a cool box and a bbq.Loads of things to do near by, ie fishing walking and boating and loads of other things.Well worth a visit been there twice in the past few weeks.

Easter 2003 We had a great time at the Argyll Camp Site, got there early lunch time Good Friday, and we managed to get a pitch very close to the Toilet block. Due the warm sunny weather the site was very busy, they packed them in goodness know how they managed it but they did. I think if I had come a little later and seen how busy the site was and how they packed everyone on I think we would have moved onto to somewhere a little less busy and were you would get a little more space around you. The site is kept clean and tidy and the toilet blocks were cleaned every couple of hours (although the toilet blocks let the site down a little outdated and with only 2 showers and three loos per block and there are only 2 blocks)there were signs stating that they were in very early stages of planning a upgrade to them so once this is completed it would be a first class site. There is a club house for a wee drink and a small shop for your morning paper or pint a milk etc, a launderette which I never went into there was also one or two small areas for the kids to play and there was a 5 aside grass football pitch. All in all we had a great time at £12 per night I guess you can not ask for anything more. Great place to explore further or to do a spot of fishing etc has you on the edge of Loch Fyne.
