A beautifully situated C&CC site and up to their usual standard.
The site is flat and open but protected from the northerly wind by a small wood. It is approx 3/4 mile walk to the beautiful Embleton Bay, through a wood, meadow and then a quiet lane.
There are dog friendly pubs in Embleton (1/2 mile) and Dunstan (1 mile) and it is approx 2 miles to walk to Craster or the Ship at Low Newton.
The site has the usual facilities with very clean toilet blocks and friendly wardens. The pitches are flat and easy to access. Like us, many visitors had dogs as this is great walking area. The wood alongside the site is directly accessed as their 'dog walk' and also provides the route to Embleton or to the beach.
We walked up the coastal path to Bamburgh (approx 13 miles) and go the bus back, which drops you outside the entrance (£5. 40 for an adult, no charge for a dog).
A great site in a superb location - we will be going back later this year.

We've been coming here every year since we got our motorhome 7 years ago so it must be high standard. It certainly still is, from the excellent staff, through the location to the clean, warm toilet facilities. Only one block were open though so it could be a longish walk from the bottom end of the Site. We miss the swallow nests in the entrance areas to the toilet blocks too now they've been upgraded. The staff were always helpful and ready to go the extra mile for visitors.
This seems to be a Site with a lot of dogs. Fortunately, their owners were managing to keep them under control but it could be an issue in high summer with a lot more children around.
This is what C & C Club should be providing across the board. Unfortunately, there still seems to be a disconnect between quality at the sharp end on Sites and Main Office. Online booking is still hit and miss and pricing remains unclear till very late in the process.
There are plenty of non C &C sites of at least the same standard in some beautiful places and we'll keep on using them.

What a great site. Our first visit to this part of Northumberland and a good choice it was too. We had a very friendly welcome from the warden who gave us a choice of pitches. The site facilities are excellent, the toilet block was always clean; the information room well stocked and the on site shop had more than just bread and milk.
The bus stopped outside the site and was convenient for travel to Berwick or Newcastle and, of course, all the villages in between.
It took 30 minutes to walk to the beach and another half hour to Dunstanburgh Castle. This was a great dog walk, adjacent to the site, and dogs allowed off leads for most of the way.
We were not lucky with the weather for some of our stay but the bonus was the outside dog shower! Great for muddy four-legged friends!
We will definitely return to this friendly site.

Just returned from a week at Dunstan Hill, our first visit to a camping and caravanning site since joining. The site was lovely and quiet, the design of the site was to our liking with two large linked areas which had a good amount of space between units. Important to note that the site was not full when we visited after Easter, so this worked well, not so sure there would be the same feeling on site at peak season. Wardens were very friendly, efficient and professional. Toilet block was the best we have been to, new, and clean at all times. The site is surrounded by fields and is set about a mile from Embleton village which has a few pubs/restaurants, post office, play park etc, which you can cycle to, from the site. It is also a mile from the beach which is accessed from the site along a public footpath then weaving along the side of farmers fields. The beach is one of the best we have been to, it is a stunning long, wide beach backed by dunes which help shelter it. We visited each day of our holidays, it was stunning. Alnwick is around 10mins from the site by car and is a lovely country town, we loved Barter Books the famous book shop. We love the beach next to Bamburgh castle and a trip to Seahouses which is about 15mins away (we did one of the boat trips on a previous visit). A highlight of our stay was a trip to Cragside, a national trust property around 30 mins away, the house, gardens and estate were amazing. The whole family enjoyed this (our kids are 10 and 12) but would recommend to parents of kids of all ages as there is so much to see. Best to dedicate a full day to this though. Weather wasn't kind to us on our stay so didn't manage to do all the things we had hoped to so look forward to visiting the area again.

Absolutely brilliant campsite with excellent facilities in a beautiful location. No shop but fresh milk and eggs were available to buy from site owners. Short walk to the coast with lovely beaches and Castle and 10 minute drive to the lovely town of Alnwick. Look forward to going back again soon, highly recommended.

This is our second visit and apart from an aggressive dog being opposite us we had a lovely peaceful stay. The staff are lovely the facilities are exceptionally clean and we were able to watch the Great North Bike Ride go past the entrance. Again the fish and chips on Friday were beautiful. This sight is fast becoming a firm favourite of ours

A great friendly site, was welcomed and taken to our pitch by very helpful site staff. The toilet blocks are the cleanest I have seen on sites for a long time.
Even the bin areas are kept very clean and never over flowing.
Very dog friendly too, and a great walk down to beach through the woods, just be careful if it's rained as exposed tree roots get very slippy.
Small shop in site office did essentials and fish and chip van visited Monday and Friday, not the best food but at £6. 50 not too over priced either.
When our new airbed got a fault and went down on the first night, the staff pointed out where we could get replacements too.
Great walks to Dunstanborough Castle, Craster and along the beach. A great base to explore Northumbria's lovely coast

This is a level site on the outskirts of Embleton. There is no sea view, but from the site you can follow a footpath to the beach and be there in 20 minutes. It is a bit exposed, people were using windbreaks for their original purpose, rather than to mark their territory. The toilet and shower blocks were super clean and tidy. The fact that there are some dedicated family rooms meant that the ladies was not as busy as some sites at the weekend, when it always seems to be the mums who take all the children into the ladies for showering. Fish and chip van visits Fridays and Mondays, from 5-8, good grub, £6 for fish and chips. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. You can order newspapers form the site shop which is small. There is good Wi-Fi on the site, but no phone reception for orange or vodaphone, unless you follow the path to the edge of the trees c. 5 minutes away.
I love this area, there is loads to do. I recommend horse riding at Slate Hall stables in North Sunderland, where you can canter along the beach to Bamburgh. Go midweek when the beach is quieter, so you can get more beach to play with. Also, a walk south along the beach past Dunstanburgh Castle to Craster is a must.

Really good introduction to touring with our van. The staff are top notch and very helpful. The site is well maintained and pitches are adequate. It was very busy but the facilities coped well. The shower block is very good and immaculate virtually all the time. We will happily return, you get what you pay for. Perfect location for dog walking and visiting the dog friendly pubs.

The Site was surprisingly busy, considering it was inside term time and the weather had been disappointing earlier in the month. The staff at the Site were excellent, more than compensating for confusion over a booking we thought we'd made directly on the C & CC website but which didn't seem to have got as far North as Northumberland.
Toilets have been upgraded, but we missed the swallows which used to nest in the entrance areas. It might have been a good idea to increase the number of showers and washbasins as they were always under pressure even this early in season but it's a bit late now.
We seemed to be about the only people on Site without a dog but the owners seemed to be doing their bit to keep fields and pathways clean so well done there.
This is a Site and area we love- great walks, fabulous views, good local food. The Site ranks up with the rest of the area.
