We have just spent a great weekend here, fantastic site with excellent views and hardstanding pitches with electric hook up for motorhomes. Very helpful staff, good facilities, motorhome drain points and a shop selling essentials. Nice walk into village along riverside which takes around 20 minutes, there is a pub which does nice food only 10 minutes walk from the site. There are a few other nice oldy world pubs in Hayfield also serving food. We enjoyed it so much we booked another weekend on leaving as two days is not enough to see everything.

The site is tucked away in the valley village of hayfield which is close to a plethora of walks into the peaks and has all the facilities you require. Prices were £12 per night for a grass pitch or an extra £3. 50 for hardstanding and electric, (was told by wardens that hardstanding alone is not an option!)
There is a circular layout with motorhomes and campervans around the perimeter and tents in the central grass area, a shop selling basics just behind the reception at the entrance and then the toilet block (showers are free). Fresh water taps situated at the toilet block and another at a motor vehicle point, bins are contained in the tenting area.
It's around a mile walk back into the village for the few shops, pubs, post office, newsagents, cafes and chippy, although the sportsman pub is a short walk from the site.
A very picturesque site being in the peaks and for me it was a bonus being on the flight path of Manchester airport and watching the planes coming around to land, so the noise from them was no issue, which can't be said about the flies - bugs!

An excellent site in a great location. Short Walk in to town, many walks start from the Car Park at the end of the drive in to the campsite. Friendly welcome from the wardens. Who look after this recently updated site. Although the toilet block has not been updated yet it is kept clean and well serviced. The new hard standing and EHU are a great asset to the site. There is a little aircraft noise but nothing to cause a problem. The site is busy on a weekend particularly with tent campers but quiet during the week. TV reception is a bit hit and miss if you do not have a directional ariel. Great if you have a satellite dish.

Great site with very friendly staff, arrived on a very windy saturday afternoon in October and was given lots of information on the local area pubs, shops etc by the lady in charge, although the site was busy I was given a more than ample pitch and facilities were very nice warm and clean.
This site is ideal for walkers or just to have a nosey round Hayfield as I did.
Other campers were very friendly and I joined some ladies from the site in the local pub, The George, which is dog friendly and does a lovely 2 course meal for 6 quid, don't forget your torch for the walk home though!
Overall a great site I will be returning to.

I had a bad time at this site not the sites fault but the weather, soon as we got there the heavens opened up and did not ease until the next morning.
On arriving at the site the wardens were very friendly and told us where to pitch our tent and they tried to help us find a good spot so to keep us out of the wind, of what we seen of the camp shop it looked pretty well stocked.
Had a little walk around the small village about 10 mins walk away but it was raining so bad we had to get back and shut up tent for the night (15.30)just manage to get a quick shower, the shower blocks and toilets are very clean but also very old and need a upgrade.
To sum it up good points, nice wardens, free showers, clean with plenty of bins around and also lots of wildlife, ducks, rabbits, etc, also I bet the views are very good when the sun is out and also nice stocked camp shop.
Bad points, shower block needs a massive upgrade its looking very old, very small site also very hard to knock your pegs in (rocky) and not to mention the price £18.00 per pitch which I think is a little to high, I would say £10.00 for low season, but on the whole I would give this site a 6/10 like I said the weather put us off

Stayed here on a spur of the moment as non-CCC members.
First thoughts were the jaw-dropping price - £23. 50 for 2 people with a backpacker tent.
Site staff were very friendly, and the site was very quiet and peaceful.
Great locations, with some good walking close by.
Nearest pub sold some nice beer and is very close.
Facilities were as expected - a good number of toilets and showers, etc.
Overall a nice site, and I would visit again but not at this price - more than a couple of nights would be too much.

Spent 3 nights over the bank holiday at Hayfield.
The site is in a lovely location with great walks on the door step.
Facilities are good. Hot showers, plenty of loos, very clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
There was a couple of down sides to this site. The ground is shockingly rocky. We nearly lost our windbreak on a couple of occasions as the ground was so wet and the pegs had worked loose.
The midges! Make sure you take plenty of repellent or you will be eaten alive!
We ate at the pub down the road,The Sportsman. Food and drink was excellent, service was superb and they are dog friendly!
The village is lovely, has a number of pubs and the village shop is well stocked.
We had a good time but not sure we would go back to this site because of the bad point mentioned.

Just spent a couple of days at this site and was very impressed, clean and well maintained with excellent staff. Great location for many activities especially if you like walking and some great local pubs serving good food and some fine beers. You may be troubled by aircraft noise as stated in other reviews but its only a minor irritation and I will be visiting again.

We went to Hayfield campsite for a few nights and ended up staying for 2 weeks and we both enjoyed every minute of our stay, the wardens were extremely helpful & friendly,
We walked along the river into Hayfield village to the local pub the George great food & you can take your dog in too.And there's also a good chippy.
The site was well made out with a good shop & shower facilities & the views were fantastic, there were also lots of rabbits were looking forward to our next visit, they sell rock pegs at the shop you'll need them!

Stayed here 2 nights as a base for walking up Kinder Downfall
Approach is via very narrow roads dotted with several pubs that serve good food
Great site - quiet location tucked in amongst trees with the river adjacent to the site
It is under the flight path to Manchester Airport but that caused no problems for us
Pitches are a good size and you need solid pegs as the ground is exceptionally rocky
Toilets and showers very clean and good to see other site users keeping them that way
Shop is adequately stocked with all the essentials - especially those pegs!
It's a perfect site for walking enthusiasts who enjoy the natural environment
Will be going again for sure
