We spent a long weekend over bank holiday here and really enjoyed it, the site is very clean and well maintained and the wardens are very friendly. We walked around Rudyard Lake on the sat, very nice easy walk, and Sunday we walked around Tittesworth Reservoir. We will definitely return.

This was a good, well-organised campsite and the staff were helpful and professional. The toilet/shower blocks were very clean and well-equipped and the site offered fish & chips on Saturday at 7pm, which was a nice touch. Good walks were possible from the campsite, including the nearby Roaches – rocky outcrops. We thought that it was perhaps slightly expensive (£18.10/night for camper van + 2 adults). The pitches were all hard-standing (gravel) and we thought it would have been nice to see a bit more grass around. Overall we would certainly recommend it as a base for a night or two.

Stayed here for one night (Saturday) in May, we were lucky enough to get pitch because the site was full. Very friendly wardens. The site is on 3 levels, we stayed on the second level, a spot on its own which was ideal. The pitches are all hard standing but the grassed areas and shrubs in between made it appealling. The showers and toilets were spotlessly clean with free hot water. The reception sells ice creams and basics. There is a small play area at the top of the park but also a climbing frame on the bottom level which our girls loved. Tittensworth Resevoir is close by and well worth a visit whether you have children or not, there is plenty to do there. We visited the Three Horsehoes Pub which does a carvery and pudding for £8. - good vale for money. We will definitely be going back to this site.

Spent 4 nights here in july.
Site is on three levels sloping up from the road.Nice level pitches except maybe the end ones higher up.
We chose the lower level by the hedge, very nice large pitch but the road is very loud on a Monday morning.
Usual Caravan Club facilities, water and grey waste close by,excelent shower, toilet and wash areas

Just returned from our second outing here, was nearly full when we arrived (at 7pm - but this is expected) we had to pitch up near the road (A53) but there was only road noise in the evening so this didn't really cause any problems. The site wardens recognised us from our last visit in June - amazing! and as before they were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This is a great site for getting around the Peak district. It is close to Tittesworth Reservoir which is great for the kids and has a fantastic play area. Had a great weekend and will definitely be coming back to this site. The 3 horse shoes pub neatby has a great reputation ( from speaking to other people) but as our days were so packed we never had time to try it ourselves. Toilet blocks were very clean and free hot water. There is a play area at the top of the site but this is quite small, but was okay for our 3 & 6 year old children.

Good C&C site, but all hard standing, good if you like that but for us more grass please. The site is clean but clinical with lots of space but expensive for what you pay. Lots of good spacing but not a lot of soul. Wardens friendly, but not a lot going for it. Wouldn't return, but maybe that's us.

Just returned from our first ever outing in a caravan. The site was immaculate, the shower/toilet blocks were exceptional. The pitches were very large and well set out, so you didn't feel you were on top of each other. The wardens on site were fantastic and said on arrival you could choose whichever pitch you wanted and pitch whichever way suited, just let them know after you have set up. The weather was awful (continous rain) but this didn't stop the children (3 & 6) enjoying their first caravanning holiday, would definatley come here again as it is a good central base for the peaks. Fish & Chip van parks up at reception at 5pm on a Saturday & is very popular. There is one large hill on the way out of Leek, but it shouldn't pose to much trouble if you have your Caravan/car ratio's okay.

We stayed here for 2 nights in our campervan. It was a lovely clean site with spacious pitches, friendly wardens, and a great dog walk.
Worth noting though, if you intend to take an awning you will need rock pegs as it is all hard-standing (can be bought on site but probably cheaper to buy in advance), and wheel levelling chocks are essential for campervans as many of the pitches are on a slight hill unless you are on the pitches close to the road.
Pitches are not allocated in advance so you are best to arrive early to choose a good pitch away from the road. When we went in June they must have been spreading on the nearby fields as there was a strong rural aroma all weekend!
We would visit this site again as it was very well maintained, and easy to access for a weekend away. I would be reluctant to stay longer as there is not much to do within walking distance which can be a bit of a pain, having to pack up the van daily.
There are 2 pubs within walking distance, The 3 horseshoes looked lovely but also quite expensive so we tried the other pub (can't remember the name!). Food was reasonable for the price but we would not go back, and regret not paying the extra to try the 3 horsehoes.

Set on a hillside, with spacious hardstanding pitches on level tiers rising above the main facilities block, this can't be described as an especially pretty site. Views over the southern Peak District hills are restricted by trees, and because the site itself is made up only of gravel pitches, separated by hedges and shrubs, it does look unformly grey and a little bleak, especially before the leaves are on the trees. Even so, clumps of spring flowers brighten the area, and there's lots of birdlife on the many feeders put out by the site staff. Of course, the facilities are up to the usual excellent Caravan Club standard - clean, spacious toilet blocks with free showers, veg prep/dish washing areas - and the wardens are a friendly, helpful bunch. However, the site is rather noisy thanks to the neighbouring busy road - regualarly used by trucks and wailing motorbikes - and there's quite a bit of high jet noise as its under the flightpath into Manchester airport. This is a good base for touring the area rather than relaxing at the van. Fish and chips van visits on Saturday nights, and was very popular during our visit. Accessing the site from the west means coming through the middle of Leek, which can be fraught. Also, there's a very steep hill on the main road about a mile before the site entrance, which could catch out some tow-ers.

Our first trip in a Motorhome and we found the site ideal. First class facilities, spacious pitches, good, clean showers and dog friendly. Very helpful wardens, the TV reception does not receive a digital signal so if you have a built in digi box like us you can not use your TV. This was not a big problem, only took the tv as it was December and the evenings draw in early. Excellent walking around nearby Tittesworth Reservoir, a must if you want a great walk with the dog. Would certainly visit again.
