Lovely site. As mentioned before only 2 showers but I never had to queue, neither did my daughter. I would say that the shower / toilet block was heated, but not quite sufficient for my grandson (2 years) who's teeth chattered whilst having a strip wash in the sink. We would recommend this site to anyone, and would return. Our tent is 7.2 x 2.4m so we had to pay a penalty for this, it worked out at £17.50 per night for us 2 and the tent, then we had to pay a further £1 for my daughter's car and £3 per night for her when she turned up. Grandson went free. We visited Abbey House Gardens in Malmesbury, the naked gardeners! Absolutely fabulous, would recommend to any keen gardeners. Malmesbury Town is beautiful as is the walk across the field to get to it.

This site consists of a medium sized field, right on the edge of a delightful Cotswold town. There are no roadways through the field, so in wet weather 2-wheel drive vehicles may struggle, although I'm sure the owner would assist with his X3 rather than have his grass torn up and rutted. Yes, there are just two showers for each sex, but overall the facilities are very good. Everything is kept immaculately clean and spotless. The chemical waste point isn't ideal as you have to balance your cassette on the raised concrete surround to wash it out, and the drinking water point has a short length of non-food grade hose which tends to split at the union with the tap and spray you with water. But these are only minor criticisms.
Malmesbury town centre with its Cotswold stone buildings is just 10 minutes walk away, and can be accessed by a footpath across a field by the River Avon. In town, don't miss the Summer Cafe which serves excellent coffee and good snacks like paninis and quiche salads. The Wild Food shop sells a huge variety of organic produce if you like cooking while on holiday. Otherwise the local pubs offer good meals.
This site is very well located and has pleasant owners, is peaceful and quiet, maintained well, and I can highly recommend it.

Really great site.
Very good location for any West Yorkshire to Dorset drivers who need to stopover.
Good size site, easy to find, and friendly welcome for me and my border collie. Very reasonable too at £10.50 for a night with a hook up.
Dog walk adjacent to site is really great - by the river with dog swimming opportunities.
Toilet and shower block really clean and free hot water.
Generally nicely maintained and laid out.
Definitely recommend to others and will return in future

We stayed or 4 nights in this campsite. The campsite I very small and quiet, pitches level. The showers were spacious with a separate area for clothes and dressing. A short walk into small town which had everything. There was no dryer in the laundry area which was a major down side as the weather was bad and we were away from home for 2 weeks.
The only real down side was the dogs. I am not a dog lover but don't mind them if they are on the lead. However, a number of units had dogs that were off the lead.
The owners were lovely and met you with a guided tour and tips on different attractions in the area. The Swindon outlet Centre is a must for the bargain hunters.
Would return but would be more vocal about the dogs. I'm sure they were all gorgeous but only to their owners

We had a really enjoyable stay and would highly recommend this site. We stayed for two nights and arrived late on the Friday. The owners are extremely helpful and gave us a guided tour of the site and useful hints and tips for the area. There is even a communal camping fridge - really helpful for longer stays! The site is small and concise - perfect for those who want peace and quiet without compromising on facilities. There is no children's playground - the river walk is great and there is lots to do in the local area. The Dog and Gun is a recommended pub - great food and very dog friendly. In fact, when we were there the dog owners outnumbered everyone else.

Very nice site! Nice 15 min walk into Malmesbury along the river, Quiet, Clean facilities and very helpful owners. My suggestion would be ask for a pitch around the edge of the field - I think we may have booked late, and were right in the middle near the toilet block - not my usual sort of spot if I can help it, but nevertheless, a very enjoyable stay.

This was a good site, close to the town centre but far enough away to be peaceful. There are only two showers for each sex, but there was never much of a queue even on a busy weekend. The owner was welcoming and was happy to give us info on the site and the town, including the route to the pubs, of which the Smoking Dog is recommended for food and drink.

Visited Burton Hill in May 2007, small site on the edge of town, 5 minute walk. The site is level and the small facilities were 'adequate', having said that the water was very tepid in the showers and washing facilities [ much to the controllers annoyance, she likes hot showers ! ]. I only spoke to the lady owner to book-in and she was very helpful. Only other point is why don't owners of sites put clothes hooks in the shower cubicles, most annoying having to put your clothes onto a foldup chair then get them wet as was the case at Burton Hill

Booked 2 nights mid week. Arrived when owners not in & they had been kind enough to leave clear instructions as to which was our electric hook up pitch. Lovely clean push button free 'power' showers. Small quiet site with pretty, beautifully cut grass pitches. No play area if you have kids, but as we were away without ours this time, it was fine for us. From the site there was a really pleasant short walk through the field & along the river to the town (approx 10mins) where there are pubs, tea rooms, small shops etc. We took advantage of the Burton Hills 'information' room which had lists of places of interest, local take aways, restaurants etc. First night we ate at the Horse & Groom in Charlton, fantastic, best food/service etc we have had in a while, ate in the restaurant, but a bit expensive if just want a snack/quick meal/standard pub food, but well worth it! Also ate at the Smoking Dog in the town, Beer garden at the back, had standard pub food & fine. Would visit Burton Hill again if in the area.

What a wonderful site - we are planning to return. As 2 couples we stayed for 2 nights over Easter 2007. On our arrival the owner walked us around the site and introduced us to the abundant and spotless facilities (including recycling, designed BBQ bins, information office with shared fridge freezer etc etc). The tent pitches overlooked the panoramic view of Malmesbury and surrounding fields. The site was quiet with easy access into the town with really great pubs within 5 minutes walk. The town's facilities are excellent and very quaint - cycle routes are good too - very easy to get off main roads and visit local places (eg Westonbirt Arboretum). In the morning the owner came over and said hello and asked if we were enjoying our stay and recommended a number of local points of interest and also was interested to see if we enjoyed our days out the next day. This is a small site so I guess they can afford to meet all their guests and this personal touch really sets this site apart from many others. Any bad points? Well the shower was hot but pressure wise was a bit limp - then again if you wait until 11am in a campsite that should be expected. 4.5 out of 5. Great stuff.
