 Haven't stayed here but walked past it. Looks pretty basic but is truly beautiful! Slightly sloping. The views from the site over the peninsula are stunning. It is very peaceful. It's a bit of a drive to reach but worth it. Aberdaron is handy down the road.

Last summer, eleven misfits from Wigan set up camp in this beauty of a site and my did we have fun.
The owner is very friendly and basically allowed us a field to ourselves. It was the last weekend of July but the campsites position (i.e up a big hill) meant it was foggy quite often and although we only had a Corsa, a Micra and Ford K.A to get up the hills it was still a little tricky.
We would definitely recommend this site as it had everything we needed; good views plenty of room and not many other people there! Only a few of us used the showers, which were okay. The rest of us just smelled!
Will be returning if were allowed!

This is an excellent campsite. The location is absolutely stunning and the facilities are of a very high standard.
I camped here as part of a small group for 3 nights when the weather was immaculate - hot and sunny. We were in tents and found the lack of caravans to be blissful. The site does allow touring caravans, but these were mercifully in a different field and few in number. For us humble canvas dwellers the prospect of huge rows of white vehicles is truly grim, and it is always gratifying to find campsites that are mainly geared towards tents. Also, the roads around here are very narrow and this undoubtedly discourages some of the Winnebago-sized monstrosities that blight areas like the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.
The site is perched on a couple of gently sloping fields with magnificent views of the sea, the Lleyn coast and Bardsey Island. It is the most westerly site in North Wales and beautifully remote.
There are a couple of things to bear in mind: the nearest pub is a 45 minute walk (2 found in Aberdaron, which are okay); there is nothing to do here apart from relax, go for walks and enjoy the majestic coastline. Also, when I refer to facilities I mean showers and toilets. This site is not a small town replete with chip shop, supermarket, club house, bar, playground, etc. Such campsites are abhorrent eyesores that scar our beautiful countryside.
I would definitely return to this wonderful site.

I agree with all the positive comments made by previous reviewers. This basic farm site, right at the end of the Lleyn Peninsula, has some of the most stupendous coastal views in the UK. There views over Cardigan Bay and further south, Bardsey Island and north towards Anglesey.
Although the 4 toilets and 2 showers are rather few in number they are of a very high standard and clean and well cared-for. The owner Robert Jones and his wife are very friendly and personally came to welcome us. Mr Jones was frequently around the site and always ready for a friendly chat.
There are some lovely coastal walks from right outside the site gates. it is next to National Trust land. It is extremely reasonable at £7.50 with electric hook up for our caravan, us 2 + plus Max the collie.
The top field has the best views but is a little exposed when it was windy. The site has no other facilities and it the nearest shops, post office, pubs are in Aberdaron about 2 miles away. Aberdaron is very small and has a real problem with a lack of car parking. This meant that it was a very cheap holiday as there was little to spend money on! There were boat trips to Bardsey Island from Aberdaron but at £10 a head for 3 hours on the island we decided it was too expensive.
The children staying on the site organised their own games in the middle of the field and there are several beaches with 2 or 3 miles.
The disadvantage of this splendid isolation is that it is a long drive down the Lleyn Peninsula and the roads become increasingly narrow becoming single track near Aberdaron. We found the the best towing route is along the south of the peninsual via Porthmadog Criceth,and Pwillhelli. The north coast via Nefyn was very twisty and frequently narrow.
We'd certainly go back again.

This is a lovely place, I called the owner on the 26th Dec to check availability, we arrived the next day, to stay in their caravan, everything was ready for us, the owner had put the lights on and the fire, it was very nice and clean and very well equipped, it is in the middle of their working farm on their land, near the farmhouse, the owners are very friendly, we all loved the totally different way of life, calm quiet, no traffic lights, sirens etc.....
Perfect, how an escape to the country should be, very secluded and peaceful, give it a go if you want peace, if you drive out you can find towns with restaurants and shops etc...
We will def be going back, bit far out so take plenty of provisions etc...

Don't know if I should be telling you how good this site is. Peaceful little haven with views to die for. If you decide that a "wee" stop is called for at 5-6am the sheep line the road to watch you heading off to the toilets!! Not really - they're waiting to be fed. This is a basic site which deserves to become more popular. Showers on 20p meter, and soft loo roll for free!!
This place is miles from the nearest amenities - so plan in advance. If you head into Aberdaron itself there is a Spar and other small shops. Superb local small bakery that does fab Eccles Cakes if that's your fancy. Also went to Whistling Sands whilst there - dry sand squeaks under your feet and there was also a local sheep dog trial to watch.
The owner is really friendly (as is his dog who's quite partial to anything food related)and willing to give advice on the best place to pitch - try the top right corner of the top field. Talking to him he also has plans to expand next season to another much larger field with more EHU's.
If you want a peaceful relaxing break with fantastic views, then this is the place for you.

Ty mawr is a very quiet peaceful site with fabulous views overlooking Bardsey island. This is the second time we have been the other was for 3 weeks. The facilities are basic with showers and toilet with no washing up area and has no club but has a great deal of space for the kids/dogs.
There are hill walks all over the coast from where you camp. Also there is quite a nice seafood restaurant that does some really nice food but has to be booked in advance as they only seat 24 at a time.
Well worth a visit if you like the solitude but take plenty of provisions as there is no shop near.

Went to Ty Mawr for a weekend break. What a fabulous location!! One way, there was a beautiful view across to Bardsey Island, the other was a fabulous view across Cardigan Bay. Never been to anywhere better for scenery.
The site consists of two fields and is basic, with toilets and showers (2-p meter). This is reflected in the very reasonable charges - £6.50 including hook up. There's no bar, shop etc.., just isolation and peace and lots of space. The site could be improved with dish washing facilities, but apart from that, it was perfect.
The site is some way from the nearest shops, pubs etc..so make sure you plan what provisions you need.
I'm definitely going back as soon as possible.
