I first used this site in early 2007 with my first ever tourer and before I knew it I had a static caravan here. The site has changed a great deal over the last 2 years and all for the better. My last review (May 2008 was just before I bought the static) mentioned the improvements already made and the 'to do list' that Arlene the Customer Sevice Manager had made. That list must be pretty short by now because the improvements have been constant. On each new visit we play 'spot the difference' to see who can notice the most changes.
This is really a lovely quiet clean site near the beach and everything a family needs for a holiday- playpark, tennis, golf, bowling, Tesco, Farm foods, butcher, bakers, several take aways, pubs and restaurants all within a few minutes walk plus easy travel to the local tourist spots. (Remember to visit the site office to pick up leaflets with money off vouchers)
The site now has 'The Van' run by Duncan & his wife where you can get all day breakfast, fish & chips, hotdog, ice cream etc. I found it simpler to keep the menu by the cooker & to put Duncan's mobile number on speed dial!
So far we have visited 4 times this year. On our first visit we arrived 30 minutes before the Easter Party started needless to say the unpacking waited. What a brilliant day everyone had. Several large gazebos were set up with tables & chairs and laid out with things for the children & adults to do - eggs to decorate, pictures to colour in, quizzes and items to use to decorate bonnets. Great party food, easter egg hunt then the judging of all the various competitions. This was a great way to get families from the tourers, tents and statics all mixing together at the start of the season. The event was mainly funded by the site owners with token contributions from parents in the form of raffle tickets. Arlene really throws herself into organising these events & it is great to see them being so well attended.
The improvements on the site are too many to mention individually but I will mention that I am aware that the old toilet block at the far end of the site has been spruced up & reopened. I haven't personally used them but have heard good things as I understand the campers find this a great benefit (especially during the night) as it saves them going all the way to the shower/toilet block.
Any contact with the site staff has always been friendly & very helpful. Most of my contact has been with Arlene who can't do enough for all the site customers even to the extent of lending out her obliging husband to demonstrate to the novice how to change a gas cylinder, drain the boiler or connect up to the electrics!
The only downside for some is the closeness to the railway track. A new wooden fence has reduced any noise but even before that went up many people come back time & time again, have seasonal pitches or statics so it clearly doesn't bother everyone.
I will be back this weekend then 3 weeks at the end of the school holidays so hoping for good weather and of course our usual warm welcome.

I stayed at Tayview for 10 days in May & loved every moment of it! Being a first time camper & single woman traveller, this campsite is fantastic with the security of the fence (which doesn't spoil views) & being able to contact Arlene at any time on her mobile. I had a lovely warm welcome by her and had great advice from her on where I should pitch my tent, given that the weather can turn very quickly on the coast I chose the Cottage Garden which is lovely, quiet & near all the facilities.
The facilities are great! Especially the washing/drying machines and the oodles of hot water for washing dishes and showering and the shower / toilet block are kept lovely and clean. Also if you can't be bothered to cook, The Van has a great selection of hot and cold food & drink which has great service! Highly recommend the bacon butties & steaming hot cuppa teas!
The site is in a fantastic location as you are only a couple of minutes from Broughty Ferry where I recommend you pop into the Fishermans Tavern for a bite to eat or a bevvy or two or about 15 mins from Dundee centre. Monifieth also has it's hidden gems such as House of Memories, the beach, great kids play area & other gems for you to find. If like myself, you enjoy taking off for the day, then go & explore the gorgeous breathtaking views of the Grampian Mts.! You are only 72miles (approx) from Balmoral, even less from Glamis Castle where the Queen Mother grew up, Glen Clova/Glen Doll & the Glenesk Valley where there is the great Retrest Folk Museum & further down from it, a great 'flat' hikers trail to the Queens Well towards Mt Keen (3033ft) - make sure you where boots or good shoes, although 'flat' it is still a proper hikers trail though worth checking out as the views are stunning! or pop over the Tay Bridge & visit St Andrews!
I basically spent a superb 10 days exploring wee bonnie Scotland in my car & the campsite location is fantastic to enable you to do so and I will most definitely be returning here to Tayview in the future!
Huge thank you to Arlene & her team plus The Van for making my stay really special! :o)

My Partner and our 2 kids stayed at Tayview for 2 nights in a tent. We found the Site to be lovely and all the staff were very friendly especially Arlene who went out of her way to help us.
We were near the toilet facilities as we had 2 young kids. The toilets and showers were really clean (toilet block does not move in the wind) and always tidy as was the laundry etc.
There is no shop on site but that doesn't matter as you have tescos but there is a food van that provides hot and cold food and drinks. We ate out of the van a few times and the food was lovely and they were very helpful with portions sizes etc for our young kids.
The site itself was very clean and there is a huge adventure playground 2 minutes from the site as well as the beach being a stones throw away. The views are lovely and the fence that another person mentioned being horrible is not, Its green and in no way hides the view.
The beach is lovely and clean too and you can walk for ages.
There is a local tescos and farmfoods 5 minutes walk away, And broughty ferry is a few minutes drive and is lovely just for a walk around.
I certainly will be returning to Tayview for a holiday.

Fantastic site. We only stayed one day but wish we had longer. Our tent is fairly large so was charged £22 (4 adults and 1 child) slightly more expensive than other sites we have visited but for one night it was worth it. The site is very well kept and the manager Arlene could not have been more welcoming. It was such a pleasant change to be greeted by a smiling face and someone eager to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. We had our 3 year old grandson with us and he loved the nearby adventure playground ( a short walk from the site ) and the beach which is a stones throw away. There are also tennis courts nearby which are owned by the local council. The toilet block was clean and had ample free showers with hot water and the washing up water was free and piping hot. Nice clean laundry with washing machines and dryers. No on site shop but there is a Tesco within walking distance to stock up with essentials. We will def return to this site before the summer is over and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Booked for 3 nights from 22nd May, very quiet site pitched right on the shore lovely views on to the river tay. Toilet and shower block spotless. Town of Monifieth small but nice pubs. Not far from Arbroath good coastal drive and Dundee is only 3 miles in the other direction. Good bank holiday for us, wife was thinking of pitching the caravan there for the season. Staff on site very helpful.

We were here for the easter weekend. My husband John and I had a great time. Everything is close at hand. Tesco's, pub, chipshop and chinese, everthing you need We went to Dundee for the day by bus, the bus's are every 10mins. The site was very clean. The toilets were also clean and the showers were lovely and hot. Would certainly recommend it. You can walk along the beach, and there is a snack van at the camp site selling everything

My daughter and I (and our dog) visited and stayed at Tayview for three nights. We found the site to be clean and very well kept. The facilities are great with free hot water (and lots of it), laundry, washing up area and water points dotted along the area where tents and camper vans are sited. My daughter quickly made friends with other children. Our dog enjoyed himself too particularly with the beach just over the fence!
Apart from being clean etc. The site also offered picnic tables which were available for whoever wished to use them. This we found to be wonderful since we didn't have a table of our own.
Being 'novice' campers, our pegs were bent in no time due to the rather rocky surface, the lady in the office, Arlene, lent us what we needed (at no cost). We returned the pegs prior to leaving and she didn't mind that we had bent some!
It's great lying in your tent at nights listening to the sound of waves on the beach. Just like home.
We will visit Tayview again, and we have already recommended the site to some of our friends.
PS.
We weren't at all put off by the sound of the trains.
There is a great Indian takeaway nearby as long as you like all your meat tandooried! All the local shops, pub(s), park, pitch & putt and beach are within walking distance.

We stayed for 9 days at Tayview and loved it. Arlene the Customer Service Manager was very friendly and made us feel really welcome, she took time to look for information for us about places of interest and stuff for our boys.
I'm not sure it was very fair of Naisi to give such a negative review after only one night.
There is extremely easy access to the beach as the main gate area is open plan. We actually found the green fence inspired because it was green and quite finely made so the view is unbroken, it could have been a very ugly metal chain link or even trees and shrubs that obscured the view. As campers we are not able to competely secure our belongings so having a good fence is a bonus and it stops people just wandering into the park from the footpath.
Being in a tent without electric hook-up meant that we were positioned farthest from the main gate, even so it took less than 5 minutes to walk to the main gate and only 8 minutes to walk to Tesco (I timed myself) and I don't walk very fast.
The toilet and shower block were excellent, new and cleaned every day, with endless hot water, soap, paper towels and electrice hand dryer. As mentioned in a previous review Arlene has definitely got things in-hand and the improvements are ongoing, I've been assured that the outside of the toilet blocks are about to be repainted in a more attractive colour. We were there in gale force winds last week and don't remember noticable movement in the toilet block!
There were also excellent facilities for dishwashing again with endless hot water - great.
The railway is close running alongside the campsite but only 3 trains a day actually stop at Monifieth and all the rest took only seconds to speed past. As a family of trainspotters we actually found this an added bonus. For any train fans thinking of staying at Tayview these are the trains that we saw: DMU's, 125's, Voyager's, sleepers pulled by Class 67 and the occassional goods.
I think that just about covers what I think about Tayview only to add that I competely agree with all of the positive reviews that went before, I had read them all before we went and that helped me choose.
Thanks again to Arlene and the owner of Tayview we will definitely be back.

Stayed for one night with electric hook-up 2 adults one dog £16. Asked if there was direct access onto beach from site was told yes! Only to find that entire site enclosed by a rather off putting green wire fence. Access onto beach via main gate furthest point from where hook-ups were. This is not a problem for the agile but have old dog who would have been asleep before reaching main gate. Also off putting was the adjacent train track, heard first train around 6am. Toilet blocks ok but do move in the wind.
Nice view if you can get used to the fence!
Close to all local amenities, if you like golf there's plenty of it. Not for everybody.

Warden & owner of this site were 1st class during our 4 day stay at the weekend. Pleasant & helpful during our initial enquiry the week before, at check-in and on departure.
Toilet & dishwashing/laundry area facilities were excellent and clean during our stay. We were able to pitch our tent on a touring pitch with electric hook-up. Site was relatively busy during the weekend with no problems / noise experienced. Whole site was clean and well maintained with some nice static plots.
Surrounding amenities were ideal with a Tesco & Farmfoods only a 5 min walk away. A few pubs were also in the same area as was a chip shop, Indian, Chinese and a Thai restaurant. No kids play park on-site but there's no need as opposite the site entrance there's 3 tennis courts, bowling green, huge adventure play park and putting green. If you feel like a stroll there's a coastal path that runs right along the perimeter of the site boundary towards Broughty Ferry & Carnoustie.
You can't blame the site for the weather we had but its a coastal site so sea breeze is unavoidable. All in all a great friendly site which we shall return too.
