My brother and I just got back today from a fantastic 3 day break at this campsite. The campsite is positioned with a wonderful view of the countryside and mountains. On arrival we were met by a very friendly owner who told us the best pitches to use and a brief rundown of the local area even offering to ring some local pubs for us to check who was serving food that day. The toilet/shower block was of a good size and immaculate inside and out, and was the best we have encountered while camping. In short a wonderful campsite with top facilities and a lovely, welcoming, family atmosphere (not to mention very reasonably priced)

This campsite has a beautiful view of the countryside and mountains. We found James, the owner to be most friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. This site has everything you want in a campsite, peace and quiet, places to go within walking distance, and top grade on site facilities. Even the sheep are friendly.
We will certainly be visiting again. And will remember not to follow our satNav when she says turn right. When the campsite is 2 minutes down the road on the left.

We like to look before we book when we camp and so have checked out almost all campsites in the Hay on Wye area. Arriving at Black mountain view was a great relief after seeing to many disgusting facilities on other campsites. With a toddler you just want it to be clean and it was spotless!
The owners were fantastic offering cream for my little girls hand after she fell in some nettles, a nappy when my other half accidentally took all our nappies in the car on a shopping trip. Weather forecast printed and left outside our tent and even a list of other campsites for our next destination.
So close to the fantastic Hay on Wye book town where I spent a couple of hours every day.
We were planning to stay in this area for only 2 days but we felt so much at home we just didnīt want to leave so we stayed for the week and just explored the Brecon Beacons from here.
We wish the owners the best of luck and best wishes from your Dutch campers.

Wonderful area and the campsite was superb. Toilet/shower blocks cleaned everyday and felt really good. Free showers. Had hair-dryer fitted whilst we were there. Washing-up area perfect and clean. Water points within easy reach (we don't use a water carrier). Dog walking field huge. James & Nerys and their boys very friendly and helpful. The area is great for walking up mountains, along riverbanks, canoeing etc. Hay-on-Wye not far away at all. Road noisy for walking along to get to Offas Dyke path. I used ear-plugs to sleep at night but the other half did not! We would go again.

We visited this area on our way back from a holiday in South Wales. Spent a night at a nearby site, then moved to this one - what a difference!
The owner (James) took a real interest in us and our views on the site facilities - he popped over to our caravan a couple of times to check that everything was OK.
Toilets/showers are brand new and excellent. Views from the site are superb. Hay is an interesting little town and the surrounding area is beautiful. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/pop_up_profile.asp?profile=257006 If we find ourselves in this area again we'll definitely return to this site!

Very friendly and welcoming site with excellent views of the Black mountains, spotlessly clean with brand new toilet and shower block, large dog walking field where you can also play football etc. They also have three static caravans to hire and you can also hire fishing rods. James the owner is very helpful with information of the surrounding area - will definitely return.

Fantastic site! Arrived on Friday afternoon and was greeted by both owners, showed us personally to our pitch and gave advise on setup to maximise the amazing views of the Black Mountains.
The toilet and shower block is brand new, and done to a very high standard with plenty of mirrors, hooks, places to put clothes to keep dry when showering etc. Nice warm showers and heating in the shower and toilet areas. We saw the facilities being cleaned every day we were there, even dispensers with hand soap!
There is a covered washing up area with two sinks, with lighting. In this area is a notice board with local information and a large collection of tourist leaflets and brochures.
The site has a field for walking dogs, and on the main site dogs must be kept on a lead.
Owners were genuine helpful people offering advice on where to visit, and asked for our feedback as they want to make the site even better, we will go back soon. Thanks to James (owner) we now have a name for our Montana 6 with awning - 'The Hotel California'

WOW ! We have just returned from 4 glorious days at this site and were very reluctant to leave yesterday. The pitches are generous and there is a lovely walking field for dogs to enjoy with goal posts for football crazy children(and dads). The facilities are splendid and the views and location of the site are undeniably excellent. We will definitely be visiting this site again in the near future. Congratulations to James and Nerys for creating such a wonderful place to stay. See you soon

Touring the area saw the signs for this site so pulled in and space available, so booked in. Very friendly people, lovely clean site. Spotless toilets and showers. New this year so not star rated but 5 stars from me. Sky freeview on hook up. Fishing, fantastic views of the mountains. Great price for site including dog and awning. James and Nerys are adding new features all the time. Play area, football pitch, laundry soon. Not rushed to leave site either next morning.

We just spent a lovely long weekend here at this brand new site. Very handy for exploring the Wye valley, Black mountains and surrounding area.
Has a gentle slope with hook ups / TV points on every pitch and a brand new first class toilet / shower block / wash-up facilities and a family room in good central position.
Plenty of water points and there are also several luxury large chalet vans for hire. Tents are also accepted.
The view is unspoilt, overlooking the Wye valley to the Black mountains. The owners (James and Nerys) are very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. We shall certainly be revisiting this site.5 stars from us
