Stayed at this site for a week, can only agree with all that has been said about the toilet and shower block, must be the best we have used and we have used some very good ones in our travels, the site is kept to a very high standard with plenty of open space. We used the site as a base to explore York and further afield by bus and what a good service it was, ran on time and fairly late into the evening at a very reasonable price. Had a great break and will be back to enjoy this site and all that this area has to offer.

This was our first outing in our new (to us) caravan, we have been tenters for nigh on 30 years but we have gone over to the dark side now. And very nice it is too! York Caravan Park is a lovely quiet site - although the A64 did give a gentle background hum 24/7 but it was easy enough to ignore.

I couldn't fault the site at all, the loo block is the best I have ever been to, although the locks on the shower rooms were a bit tricky, I nearly got walked-in on 3 times when I was in the shower, I thought I had locked the door but that's just me being a bit thick I think! There is a regular bus service into York just outside the gate and the Park & ride at Monks Cross is only about a mile away. We didn't try the local Toby pub as we wanted to try out our own facilities so we ate in. All in all it was a great little place and we will be definitely giong back very soon.

We booked this campsite having carried out a internet search and were not disappointed. The personnel that we met were friendly and helpful and the pitches were large and well maintained. The facilities were modern clean and excellent. There is a regular bus service into York ( about twenty minutes maximum journey) that stops almost outside the site and it is easily accessed from the A64 ring road. The only criticism would be that the sign is a little difficult to see from the road- we had sailed past before we noticed it!

We definitely intend to go again. As it is an adult only site, I have had to give the lowest rating for child friendliness.

Just had our 3rd stay at this rural caravan park. We love it - the location is ideal - regular buses to and from York. At night the drivers drop you at the site entrance. Big quiet pitches and immaculate toilet block. I don't fish but the fishermen were certainly chilled out - the better half gone shopping to nearby Monks Cross perhaps ?

The site is pleasant with clean facilities and very handy for York, 45 minutes walk or bus which stops outside the site. There is quite a bit of road noise 24 hours a day due to its proximity to the York bypass. Also electricity pylons run down one side buzzing away. Dog walking facilities are limited on site and to get to a decent walk means risking life and limb walking up a busy road with no pavement/verge.

Unfortunately the wardens let this site down very badly, they were the most disinterested and unhelpful ones we have come across in the last 3 years. Without going into too much detail a problem occurred with the washing machine and when we sought help they were very unhelpful and admitted that the problem we had occurred quite often and when we suggested putting up a notice there response was 'we are only the wardens', i. E. The owners were responsible. I always thought it was the wardens who should resolve or prevent problems.

To be fair to the site if the wardens move on elsewhere I would go back again if only for its proximity to York.

Just had three lovely nights here, it was not enough, , , , , the showers, the pitches, the facilities, shower block is excellent and the owners pride in the site shows, each pitch has a well defined hedge boundary, it been said before but words can't tell, it's well worth a visit,

There is an on site warden for out of hours assistance,

Don't believe the bus time table especially late at night the locals tell us it sometimes doesn't turn up, and we found that out, to our cost, , , , thanks to the taxis.

We have already planned our return visit

Thanks to all the staff

We booked up for this site as it was advertised as adult only and with close proximity to York and surrounding areas. We arrived and were met at reception where we booked in, a key fob was issued that allowed us to access the barrier onto site (£10 deposit required)

The pitches are individually set out with a large area serviced by water electricity and digital tv hook up (take your own set box)

The site is serviced with a shower/toilet block which have underfloor heating and kept very clean, also there is a room for washing your dishes, equipped with a washing machine/dryer and iron (coin operated)

For visiting local area the site is ideally situated near the main link roads, we went to places such as Eden Camp, Yorkshire Air Museum, The Mouseman Visitors centre at Kilburn and Rievaulx Abbey easily driveable and all with 40 minutes

To go into York Centre it is easier to use the local bus service, a timetable is located at reception and the fares are very reasonable (£3 adult day return at the time of posting) a lot cheaper than parking in York, the bus journey is around 10 minutes, Service 843 and 845

The site also has a coarse fishing lake on site and has local wildlife of ducks and geese, they love to come around for tit bits, .

There is WiFi on site but we found it was mainly stable when next to reception

The only downsides we had with the site was in our opinion the reception would benefit from carrying a few supplies, milk eggs etc. Also we found in the evenings there was a lot of background noise from 'boy racers' who loved to run around the local shopping area. However on saying this, it was background noise and never stopped us getting to sleep.

 PERFECT.

We stayed here for a week and it was superb. We chose the site due to it's location to York city centre for the purpose of sightseeing, and what a choice.

The reception by staff was nothing other than welcoming with a full detailed description of the site and public transport and taxis. Bus stop right outside the entrance to the site and busses every 20 minutes £3 return, compared with parking which is £9 all day and no hassle of driving.

The pitches are well spaced and large with dividing hedges to give you that feeling of extra privacy. Pitches are fully serviced with electric, water, grey drain and TV, they are also illuminated at night.

Facilities, well they are just fantastic with 8 full bathrooms which include a shower toilet sink hairdryer and just so much space and impeccably clean. You don't end up with the usual wet clothes from showing in a tiny cubicle. There are also seperat male and female toilets which do have a couple of normal shower cubicles, along with a washing up area which has ironing facilities and washing machines.

The site has a fishing lake in the middle which has an assortment of resident ducks and geese with picnic benches. The rest of the site is manicured to very high standard.

All in all we stayed for a week and our vehicle did not move until we left to come home. This site is in the perfect location for sightseeing yet remaining rural.

Will we return to this site, you bet we will.

Best of all this site is adult only so no kids running around screaming. Shear bliss.

Simply the best 10 / 10

Just returned from a lovely long weekend at this campsite and can happily say that we will be returning in the future.

This is the first adult only campsite we've ever stayed on, with it being close to the kids holidays and there being a teachers strike we decided to avoid the family sites. What a difference. The atmosphere is much more relaxed, and I don't mean to offend families, just personally I always feel on edge because of things going on around me, usually kids crying/fighting/shouting - just doing what kids do really but when you don't have kids it's nice to be able to go somewhere that reflects your situation.

The toilets were always spotless and I loved the private bathrooms with toilet and shower, great idea.

Location was perfect for us, we went into York - we drove but there's a bus stand just outside with regular buses into the city. We also went to Harewood House which was only about 40 mins away.

Unfortunately we had to leave a night early because of weather warnings - joys of having a tent!

I'd recommend this site to anyone, it was lovely and peaceful, well maintained and very secure.

With regards to the road noise on a night, personally I never heard anything, it never woke me up. You can hear it in the distance if you listen out for it but it never once bothered us.

This is a great touring park! It is so close to York city centre with a bus stop right outside the gates so no need to drive in looking for a parking space. You could also go to Whitby, Scarborough or Bridlington. The site is very peaceful with large fully serviced pitches. We reversed the caravan in so the seating area was overlooking the duck pond. The toilet block is unique with large separate shower rooms incorporating a loo, sink and a set of hooks - the latter is often lacking! Reception has tourist information and the one person we saw was friendly and helpful. Wifi was free of charge and satellite reception was great. We know York quite well so did not go to the usual attractions. As National Trust members we opted for Goddards, the former home of Noël Terry of chocolate fame. An Arts and Crafts style house with a stunning garden had the real feel of a lived in home. We had coffee and home made scones on the terrace overlooking the main lawn. The garden had lots of separate areas - we could imagine the Terry children having many adventures in there in the 1930s. We also went to Nunnington Hall which is well worth a visit. The villages and market towns in North Yorkshire are a real delight with individual shops and charming tea rooms serving home made fayre. It's a great site in a beautiful area. We will be back!
