This site is something special. The first thing that struck me was the reserved sign that defines your pitch so you can go away for the day in your motorhome and your pitch is there for you on return. Facilities are first class all round with cooking and washing facilities. The views are stunning and there are a number of interesting walks nearby especially the RSPB reserve to the North. I would recommend this site for a short or long stay.

This was simply the best site that I have ever stayed at. The pictures on their website do not do it justice and it looks like nothing special from the road. However, once on site, it has the most beautiful views out over the coast - which was simply gorgeous. The site is small - not crowded in the slightest, the washing facilities are excellent and spotless - and the showers are all included in the price. The Campers' kitchen and laundry facilities are a real bonus - and would give you a dry space to cook if the weather was not in your favour.
There is a nearby village, with a restaurant, church etc - but the feel on the site is very much in tune with the rest of Uist. It is a quiet place where the local wildlife can truly be appreciated. I fell asleep listening to the water and woke to the dawn chorus of Oyster catchers!

Wonderful site with exceptional views. Excellent wash rooms and disabled facilities. Owners very friendly and helpful. The campers kitchen with washing machine and tumble dryer was an added bonus. Lovely beaches and a full day spent on my off/road mobility scooter on the balranald nature reserve was to be recommended. Fishing off the causeway was almost successful but no-one seemed to be catching much anyway. Enjoyed our stay would certainly recommend.

What a wonderful site, it's a real credit to the owners. Very posh shower / toilet block, wish our own at home was anywhere near as nice.
The campers kitchen - always a massive bonus for us as we're on motorcycles and in a tent - is fantastic, fridge, washer, drier, microwave, nice farmhouse table, book swap, utensils etc available. Beautifully presented too in a lovely old building with various artefacts to add character and interest.
The owners were lovely, friendly and helpful. Lovely location, sadly due to ferries we could only stay one night but would happily have stayed much longer.
They sum it perfectly on their website 'A small, but perfectly formed Hebridean campsite'.

Moorcroft is a brilliant site having an immaculate toilet/shower block and separate campers kitchen/dining space & this in a renovated old croft building! Facilities include, washing machine & drier, kitchen area, utensils, fridge, 2 plate cooker, dining table & seating and book swap. Tent pitches are raised & have views over sea lochans & neighbouring Benbecula. We were able to fish in nearby lochs & enjoyed various coastal walks. The site owners were available constantly and were very helpful & friendly. This site truly is Hebridean Heaven :) We will return.

Excellent, friendly and well appointed site.
Views over to benbecula are spectacular, easy cycle to nearest town and benbecula.
Facilities are amazing. Spotlessly clean, hot showers with ample storage/hanging points. Hairdryer, bunkhouse with very reasonable laundry facilities.
We saw buzzards, went successful crab fishing and generally stared at the view. Site is like a home from home and owners very friendly and helpful.

Five of us camped here for two nights. One at the start of our cycle tour and one at the end. Two of our party used the bunkhouse and I can only agree with all previous comments. What a fabulous site! I have never come across a better site, amenity wise for campers. The toilet block is fabulous with super, hot and powerful showers plus a hair dryer for the ladies. The campers kitchen is fantastic. It's like a small bothy with 6 seats and a table, kettle, 2 sinks, double hot plates, microwave, cutlery, crockery and pots. There was even a pulley for drying damp clothes in addition to a washing machine and dryer. All washing up materials are provided. Everything has been well thought out and it was much appreciated by 5 tired cyclists. When we return to the islands we will definitely use Moorcroft again.

The web site of Moorcrofts understates the position and facilities of their site.
It is overlooking a beautiful inlet towards benbecula with a view you could sit and look at for days.
Like us most people seemed to stay longer than they had planned.
A new amenity block with good showers, plenty of hot water.
A Blackhouse converted into a huge campers kitchen with washer and dryer, money in an honesty jar.
With hook-up, a chemical waste and water all that was missing was Wifi and that was being fitted as we stayed.
Definitely a recommended site and one we shall return to.

Another marvellous site! We sat in our van and watched a Hen Harrier make feeding pass just beside the site. Never seen anything like it before.
There are excellent facilities both in the dishwashing bothy and toilets but the views of the bay are just stunning. This is a well maintained site, too, with signs of investment of time and money in both surroundings and facilities. We'd be really happy to stay here again on our next visit.

Definitely the best site on our tour of the Hebrides. Absolutely stunning views and direct access to beach. Iain, owner is very friendly and extremely helpful. The showers/toilets are second to none as is the campers kitchen (a converted blackhouse) which we didn't need but had a look in it. My 18year old romahome had broken down a couple of days before, needing a new alternator which was fitted at a local garage the day after we arrived at Moorcroft. Iain kindly came down to give us a jump start to get to the garage! We spent the day we arrived walking on the beach. Wellies on in sunshine and walked over sand at low tide and round the island in the bay then carried on for a lovely walk on rest of beach - it stretches for miles. Can't speak highly enough of this site, a lot of thought and hard work has gone into it. Lovely tubs of flowers around the level hardstanding pitches.
