Having booked in advance and paid via Paypal for one night and then agreed via telephone to pay for an additional night upon arrival, we were surprised to find that the woman running the place did not seem to know who we were despite there only being two other sets of campers besides ourselves. She then demanded that we each pay £20 per night even though she had told me it was £15 but when I pointed this out, she asked us to pack up and leave. When I asked what I had done to merit this, she said “you’re not a nice person and you opened your mouth!” I then said there must have been a misunderstanding and that I could find the email she had sent me on my phone as proof of payment and rates, to which she said nothing but drove off on her quad. She later returned not to apologise but to say that she had found my email and Paypal invoice, and we did indeed only owe her for one night at a rate of £15.
Fortunately, we did not see her again and her husband, who is very friendly and helpful, later came over to check we were ok. Nevertheless, this site only offers one women’s toilet cubicle and two men’s. There are no shower or washing up facilities and there is not even a rubbish bin so at £15 – £20 per night, it is very overpriced. Finally, just to make sure we all felt very welcome, on the morning of our and the other two campers’ departure, they disconnected the lights in the toilets and removed the toilet paper!
The way we were treated was very upsetting; it ruined the weekend and we were just relieved to get home. Needless to say, we’d never stay here again!

We went to Handley Barns farm for my sons birthday.
We where made very welcome by the owners, He spent time giving us information about the site and it's surroundings which made exploring the area even more interesting.
The tipi was spacious and comfortable, that made the boys' first experience of camping a good one. The site was well kept with spectacular views that even the weather couldn't spoil.
All in all My son had a wonderful birthday thanks to the owners hospitality and beauty of the site.
Thank you Handley Barns farm, we hope to come back soon.

We had a long weekend on this site in may in one of there ready tents, very comfortable, with good equipment.
Well kept site with fantastic surroundings, basic toilet facilities but the owners say they have plans to improve this soon.
Made very welcome by the owners, the foot paths and wood land on this estate are a pleasure to behold both on foot and by bike, we had time to explore and found the most wonderful woodland real ale and food pub a mile or so away,
We be returning very soon, many thanks for a great experience

We visited in January 2012 as a family of four with two young children.
The owner was pleasant on arrival and showed us the hardstanding and electric hook-up, but we were a little disappointed that the facilities advertised were not available in winter ie the toilets.
Also we only had access to a relatively small area of land compared to the huge expanse advertised.
The most disturbing aspect however was two dogs which did not always seem to be either under the owners control or locked away. They also barked like mad whenever we went anywhere near them (which we had to do to get water or leave the premises). As you can imagine, this did leave us on edge and we had to keep a constant watch.
This did affect an otherwise nice family weekend, although during the summer the main camping area is away from the farm house.
