We chose this campsite as a base from which to visit the Cinque Terre. It's a medium-sized site, on level ground shaded by plane trees. Pitches come in two sizes, small or medium, and are separated by hedges.
There are two unisex sanitary blocks, new, clean but not luxurious. Loos have seats but no paper, showers are push-button and fixed temperature. On our first morning they were cold and when we reported this to reception they got it sorted. The locks on both loo and shower doors are a bit tricky and we both had trouble getting out of them on a couple of occasions!
We didn't use the restaurant/bar but it looked pleasant. Wifi is available in the bar, but if you have a pitch near enough you can also get it in your van.
We were disappointed to find the swimming pool not open and the laundry room empty of appliances. When we asked at reception they said the site had been underwater in the serious floods of October 2011, which also caused damage in the Cinque Terre area.
The washing machines had been ruined and there was so much damage to repair that things were behind schedule. All the shabby permanent caravans mentioned in a previous review were gone, replaced by smart new mobile homes for rent, which were being installed while we were there.
The site is neat the River Magra and has a peaceful ambiance - no road noise. We took a boat from nearby Lerici to the Cinque Terre and found this a very pleasant way of seeing the villages, worth the 25 euro cost. You can also take the train from Sarzana which is much cheaper but not as scenic.
Because of the flood damage we didn't see the site at its best but it should be back to normal by high season.
The approach road is long and very narrow, with few passing places and a couple of sharp bends, so care is needed.

Reception speaks excellent English and is always ready to help. Pitches are small as with most Italian sites and are gravel or grass. ASCI is accepted and we paid 16euro per night. If you want the beach you have a 30 minute walk. The showers and toilets are mixed and outdoors but very clean and nothing to worry about. Bistro and small shop on site with excellent free WIFI near to the Bistro.
Good mixture of shaded and sun pitches. Visit the Village set in the hills you see from the site Ameglio quite a walk up the hill but the views are to die for as is the walk in the old Village.

We arrived without booking having phoned during the day to make sure they had some spaces, and then again when we were about an hour away to double check.
We booked in with no fixed leaving date and were offered a pitch suitable for the size of our tent. There is no parking on pitches, but the car park was pretty close so although at first we thought it would be a pain it was actually ok.
The pitch was in good shade and big enough for our Outwell Nevada tent and a table and chairs, but not for our awning. We weren't 100% sure if the water was drinkable or not as it had signs on the taps saying not which had been scribbled out to say it was - as we were only short stay we didn't bother to find out and just used bottled water.
Reception were very friendly and spoke excellent english. There was a small shop on site - this was very basic, really only bread and basic veg adn shut for most of the day but there are supermarkets pretty close by. There was no English spoken in the shop - but the lady in the restaurant was able to help out.
The pools are lovely, no flumes, but they do run waterpolo & aqua aerobics. Hats are compulsory, and enforced, but only 3E to buy. Deckchairs and sunshades were free and plentiful, sunbeds were charged (nobody bothered)
There is a takeaway pizza place & a restuarant, and pizzas were reasonably priced, great size and lovely.
The evening entertainment seemed good - kids went to a foam party the first night and a pool party on the 2nd night.
There was a reasonable kids play area and as its on the river you could hire canoes.
One strange feature was the number of permanent fixtures - really old caravans attached to wooden huts with decking etc. It obviously has a large contingent of seasonal customers.
The site was really quiet at night and we wish we could have stayed longer as the area looked beautiful, but with only 2 nights we didn't explore off the site at all.
We went from there to Rome with a lunch stop at Pisa, it was ideally located for a day trip. As you drive into Pisa there is a park and ride that is only 1E each return to the leaning tower.
