This is a very large holiday complex with plenty of facilities but not much character. As well as the camping area there are numerous other types of accommodation for rent. The pitches are numbered but not divided in any way, but are quite a generous size, and most have at least partial shade from pine trees. The surface is a bit uneven in places and some pitches are sloping. Some of the roads in the camping area are not surfaced and are very rough. At night the lighting was poor. The area is so large that it’s quite easy to get lost, and it’s quite a hike to get to reception from almost anywhere.
There are 13 toilet blocks of varying standards. The best ones are those closest to the sea, but even these are not particularly good. Shower cubicles are quite cramped with very little changing room and not enough hooks. The frequency and thoroughness of the cleaning left something to be desired, and the upkeep and maintenance was poor. For example, the shower trays had a tendency to get blocked, as did the washing-up sinks. Further back from the sea the toilet blocks become quite basic – semi-open, with cold water only in the washing-up sinks. There were no water points anywhere so drinking water had to be obtained from the washing-up sinks.
There is a circular swimming-pool with a water-slide, and all sorts of sporting facilities and organised entertainment, which takes place around the pool and restaurant area. The latter is very large and rather lacking in atmosphere. There are a couple of smaller refreshment kiosks along the seafront and a café near reception, where wifi is available (but rather expensive. ) There is quite a large supermarket, which is a branch of the Konsum chain, three souvenir/beach goods shops and a newspaper/sweets kiosk. There’s even a hairdressers, which I found very useful and extremely cheap at 60 kuna for a shampoo, cut and blowdry (about £7. )
There is an extensive seafront with a shingle and rock beach, and the campsite has its own pier where you can get a water-taxi to Rovinj.
The reception office was always exceptionally busy which made it difficult to just pop in and ask questions. When we arrived they kept our passports and ACSI card for the duration of our stay.
The best thing about the site is its position – there are lovely views of Rovinj from the beach area, and it’s also well-placed for visiting other interesting towns in Istria such as Pula and Porec. However its size made it very impersonal, and it’s definitely not the place to go for peace and quiet!

Barrier at entrance where you have to show a pass to ensure security and we did see security men walking around the site so felt very secure.
Large reception where you book in and very helpful informational desk where the lady spoke excellent English and gave advice on best places to visit. There is also a a bureau exchange to changing money into Kunas. We found everything much cheaper than using euros in other countries.
Pitches varied in size, but ours was a good 100m squared, lots had shade by the beautiful olive trees. Some pitches were not divided by anything, but some were by hedges, bay leave bushes or rosemary bushes - giving the site a really authentic feel.
There were 13 toilet blocks, which were quite small. 6 toilets and 4 showers, divided into men and women and 8 sinks for either clothes washing or dishwashing - these did get very busy but were frequently cleaned during the day.
On the sea front, the sea was beautiful, the only problem was the rocks which were everywhere (you need to wear swimming shoes), but once you got deeper it was fine. Lots of fish to look at when snorkelling.
There was a pool with water slide - this was all sea water and was drained every night and refill during the morning. 5pm was aqua exercise, which (and I have done lots in different campsites), was the best I have tried, very enthusiastic instructor!
Trampolines and playground for children's, plus mini club and a club for teenagers. Tennis courts and table tennis.
Evening entertainment, varied from live music to Mr & Mrs Amarin - and yes they did do the bikini round (which just showed how the country differs to the rest of Europe).
The site provide a taxi boat to Rovinj direct from the campsites beach, cost 20 kuna per person, each way, which was about £2.50 each.
Site shop was pretty useless, mainly sweets and silly toys, but there was Lidl around 2km away. Souvenir shop also available.
Wifi and computers were available near reception.
We booked in December 2009 for a stay in August 2010 and even then were a good 10 rows back from the sea. There were pitches available during our stay but possibly only short-term, if you were looking for longer I would recommend booking well in advance.
On the whole, a lovely site. Just a note on the weather, was around 30 degrees during the day, but cooled down lovely in the evening so was not uncomfortable to sleep but on a major plus site no mosquitos!
