This is a large campsite near the river and an easy walk into the town of Saintes with its Roman remains (amphitheatre and ceremonial arch).
We didn't need electricity so placed our campervan in the camping field which had mature trees giving shade. The pitches are numbered and there was plenty of room. There are plenty of showers and toilets, all kept very clean. Good for an overnight stop. 16 euro for the van and 2 adults with no electricity. Be warned that the Reception closes for lunch and does not open until 3.

This is a great site for us. Our criteria are good pitches, no road noise, nice facilities and a pleasant walk into a nearby town. This site has all this including a bar and a restaurant that is highly rated, not just by customers, but by the locals as well. Very friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

I arranged a 10 day motor home rally here and we were all more than pleased with the site and all the facilities available to us. Sanitation block was clean, tidy and generally well looked after. Bar and restaurant was convenient and well used. Fishing is available to anglers as the site is along side the River Charente. There are several boules pitches and a small swimming pool which was most welcome in the heat. The site offers the use of free bicycles for campers and they are all in excellent condition. Staff were pleasant, friendly and very helpful. Saintes centre for shopping and markets is only a few hundred metres walk away as are several bars and restaurants. The river runs through the middle of the town where boats offer trips or you can hire smaller boats if you prefer. A short walk away the town has a Roman Amphitheater which is well preserved and good for a visit as is the museum. The camp site is well worth another visit and we will do so at the earliest opportunity.

Pleasant site located within a short walking distance of the town. Which is well worth a visit. The toilet and shower block were adequate and clean. Pitches were good with plenty of shaded areas. We stayed a total of 2 nights, I thought at 19 euros a night this was quite a bit more expensive than other municipal sites I have stayed at. Down side was the local youths seemed to think it was a good laugh to cause a noise nuisance at 2am both nights we stayed. There is a public car park just outside the main camp-site gate. Shouting and screaming the 1st night, continual car horn blasting the 2nd night

A large riverside municipal site offering good value for money at approximately 19 euros for 2 adults +2 children and a 15 minute walk along the river Charente to the town centre. The Roman Amphitheatre is definitely worth a visit. We mainly use this site when we can’t get into the Cognac municipal site but it would also make a good base for exploring the region as it is close to the A10 and other main routes.
There are supermarkets on the edge of the town and an interesting street market in the town centre.
There are ample shower & toilet blocks around the site which, like most municipal sites, were old but well maintained.
The pitches were on flat ground and were very large [about 10m x 10m] and the mature trees gave ample shade without making the site feel crowded.
There’s also a small swimming pool, playground and mini-golf course.
There was a small shop and you can order excellent bread and croissants daily. The reception staff also ran a small bar and restaurant serving a ‘menu de jour’ which was very good value and portions big enough for the hungriest camper. The staff were friendly and very helpful but also very busy as they appeared to do everything on the site, so you may need to wait a while to speak to them.
