 Camping Mauzé-sur-le-Mignon
A small, simple municipal site with basic facilities. A quiet low-cost site - approximately 10 euros for 2 adults +2 children, just outside town on the banks of a pretty canal
The shower & toilet block was old but spotless and well maintained and there was a small playground for young children.
The pitches were of various sizes, on flat ground and with some shade.
The part-time reception staff spoke no English but they were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
There is little to say about the town of Mauzé-sur-le-Mignon other than it has the usual tabac, Boulanger and supermarket.
We stayed for several nights, partly as it was a welcome break from the busy & expensive sites on the coast, but also because it there were so many places to visit in the area. The site is situated on the southern edge of the famous Marais Poitevin or 'Green Venise’ which was both very pretty and lots of fun - we spent several mornings losing our way on the maze of little canals. The town is also close to the Niort to La Rochelle road and only a 40 minute drive to La Rochelle, Ile de Re and Ile d'Oleron.
