 A quiet site between Porthmadog and Caernarfon, the field is tucked behind the farm house and buildings at the southern end of the village of Penygroes.
There are speed humps in the road from the roundabout towards the site. We at first thought the pylons behind the field would be a problem, but they are behind a tall hedge and largely out of sight.
The site is well maintained on a sloping grass field with good water and disposal facilities.
Grey water, as on most small sites, goes in the hedge.
Due to covid the shower and toilet were out of use.
Access to Snowdonia, the Lleyn peninsular and Anglesey is easy and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A scenic and peaceful site, tuck-in behind a farmhouse with inquisitive chickens that roam about.
Situated halfway between Caernarfon and Porthmadog, on the A487. Turn off at the Penygroes roundabout, then left to Llanllyfni. When road veers to the right get ready for a tight left turn onto a back road. The site is about 100 metres up on the right.
The slopping grass-only site is located at the back of a farm, level at the entrance then slopping up. Pitches and electric hook ups are arranged across the top, down the centre and bottom corner: in a ‘C’ shape.
Site facilities are a clean and spacious toilet room, a shower room (did not use) with a token operated electric shower, both between the farmhouse and barn. A chemical disposal point is housed in a door-less hut near by. There were no grey-water disposal points so lifting a container up may prove difficult.
In Llanllyfni village, a short walk away, there’s a pub and children’s play ground. A mile away, in the larger village Penygroes, there is a very good CO-OP shop, butchers, paper shop, hardware shop and Post Office.
From this site, you are ideally situated to visit some of the best attractions in North Wales; Snowdon, Portmerion and Anglesey to name but a few.
The only cautionary note about Rhos yr Unman is that there are high voltage electric pylons very near to the top corner of the site.
