Excellent campsite, facilities very clean, very quite and peaceful.
There were beautiful views of the water and even a display of fighter jets one day.
I arrived with a roof tent and as they don't allow cars on the grass I was accomodated on the car park next to the grass.
No problem whatsoever and enjoyed the walks available on the doorstep of the campsite.
I would ask people to petition the owners of the power station to repair the footbridge to allow easier (shorter) foot access to the village.
I will definitely return when next in Wales.
I'm only leaving a 9 for location due to the bridge issue.

Perfect idyllic peaceful site. You really feel at one with nature. Streams run through the site- nothing better than to drift off to the sound and awake with the many birds.
Spotless facilities, only 2 showers but that's more than enough as there are hardly any other people. Camping kitchen with fridge, microwave and kettle if you want to use them.
I felt totally refreshed and as if I had escaped life the moment I turned onto the track to the site. We will be back! And soon I hope!
Word of warning, mozzies are a problem so pack your 'skin so soft'!

Lovely Campsite just a couple of hundred yards up the hill from Aberdaron itself, showers and toilets are free but bring your own loo roll.
Very quiet even with the road next to the fields.
Will definitely be going again

We have been advised that this site is now under new ownership. As well as tent camping by the lake, there is also a Camping Cabin for rent. There are toilets and showers, communal kitchen, drying room and wash facilities. Firepits and wood available for sale.
If you have different information, or that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

Excellent site about 20 mins walk from the village. It is in a superb setting well away from main roads at the end of an unclassified road. It was perfect for a visit while backpacking the Cambrian Way.
There is a small kitchen equipped with a fridge, kettle, microwave, cutlery and crockery.
The showers are immaculate but might be busy if there are many people on the site. When I was there it was just the two of us (me and my dog. The owner is a nice guy but the site is up for sale at the moment.

We stayed at Cae Adda for 9 days in Aug/Sep 2013. The campsite sits on the western shore of Lake Trawsfynydd and comprises two or three meadows around a toilet/kitchen block.
The location of the site is perfect to explore the ranges of Snowdonia; Porthmadog is the closest large town about 10 miles distant. Access to the campsite is from the main road to the east of the lake; it is approached via a single-lane road. The setting is very tranquil and peaceful. At the head of the lake, about a mile and a half distant from the site, sits a disused nuclear power station, which has been undergoing decommissioning since the mid 90s; this imposing structure looks majestic at night when its windows are lit, rather like a squat, gothic battlement. There are great views of the Milky Way on a clear night.
You can pitch anywhere and the meadow we were in, to the right of the facilities, had some good level pitches; during our stay there was ample room between the few tents that came and went. You cannot drive your car onto the grass, but there is ample parking near the kitchen block or at the north end of the site, so we didn’t have to carry our stuff more than 50 yards to where we pitched. There are picnic tables that can be moved around, which are always useful. The facilities themselves are perfectly good: there is an enclosed kitchen with sink, fridge, freezer, microwave, additional power points, drying racks; there are two shower rooms both with WC and sink; there is a separate stand-alone WC. Around the back of the kitchen, there is an open shed with ample chopped firewood. The owner operates an “honesty” system where money is posted via envelopes, which are provided, into a slot in the kitchen wall – this is for the rent and the firewood. I like that; he assumes that most people are honest and not out to fleece him, which is true in my experience. He lives off site, but visits a few times a day to clean the showers and loo and replenish the consumables. He is friendly man, happy to stand and have a chat.
We were so very happy to stay at Cae Adda and would do so again if camping in the area.

I stopped at Cae Adda for two nights during half term in May and the campsite was quieter than expected. It is set in the most glorious location with the hills/woodland behind and the lake in front and three well kept fields to camp in. There are several open fire pits dotted around the site for campers to use and wood is supplied at £2. 50 per crate.
There are two combined shower/toilet/wash basin rooms that are kept meticulously clean and one further toilet alongside. The showers cost £1 per 10 minutes. On the opposite side of the block is a wash room with fridge, freezer, microwave and kettles. There is no running hot water at the moment from any of the taps. It cost £6 per adult per night.
There is a village within a 15 minute walk/ 2 miles where you can get pub meals or local convenience store. This is a fantastic site if you are looking to get away from the crowds in Snowdonia - beautiful countryside, peaceful, well located for walking in the Rhinogs and all the amenities needed for a relaxing break. I would advise there are no play areas, games room or shop so if that's what your children want then avoid.
