Located approx 4km from Les Sables D'0llone with direct access to coast and beach Bus service approx 1 mile away
If you walk along the coast head towards Sables and definitely stop at the 'Jamacian Smoothie shack' on the way
Heavily populated by statics and camping companies
Shop still only open 8-10 am Large friendly bar
Single sex groups allowed and yes they are a problem if you are located nr the beach gate access as they return at all hours of night and morning and are noisy
If you are offered a ' sea view pitch take a look first as at 6 euros a night not really worth it and you will be nr the beach gate and might need a very long electric lead Standard french 2 pin system so you will need an adaptor and we experienced reversed polarity

We loved this site. The location was amazing, with easy and direct access to a breathtaking beach. The beach is not safe for swimming, but is fine for paddling, and exploring rock pools etc. Some people were even fishing from the beach. Amazing sunsets, as it is west facing.
Check in was straightforward, and we were shown to our pitch (F17) by a member of staff driving a golf buggy. The manoeuvring was a little tight, due to the way people had parked their cars, but he got a car owner to move, and when a fence looked too close for comfort, he simply lifted it up and swivelled it out of the way so we could turn!
Showers, toilets and washing up all immaculate, and are in separate blocks facing one another. Showers are excellent, with sinks and electric points in each cubicle. Some washing cubicles have a picture of a shower on the door, but there is only a sink in them! You soon get used to which are the 'real' shower cubicles. The only criticism I would have is that there is only a small cold water sink in the toilets; no soap, no hot water.
The shop always had fresh bread and croissants, and also had newspapers in different languages. Not a brilliant shop for the size of site.
The takeaway was excellent, with delicious pizzas in particular. The restaurant was the same menu as the takeaway, but with someone else doing the washing up! Pleasant staff.
There was entertainment every night in the bar, which was okay. Mostly it was outside, but if the weather was bad, it moved into the bar, which made it crowded, but not a problem.
From the outside bar, which is elevated, and from the main road down into the site, there are beautiful views over the sea.
There were a few pitches near us that had single sex groups on, but they were never a problem. In fact, generally behaviour on this site from all campers was courteous and considerate.
The camping pitches are mostly in one area, towards the beach access, but there are also some pitches interspersed with the large mobile homes from tour operators.
An excellent Super you (supermarket) is only 5 minutes from site, and a massive E Leclerc only 5 minutes further on.

Great campsite, there was a bit of a mix up when we first arrived, we'd been allocated a hard-standing pitch for a motorhome, instead of a for our tent, but they sorted it out straight away with no fuss.
The pool is lovely, with a small slide, lots of sunbeds and space, though it does close early afternoon for a couple of hours, something French campsites everywhere seem to think is perfectly acceptable. Theoretically they do have that stupid rule forcing males to wear Speedos, but it didn't seem to be enforced while we were there. Overall, they didn't seem to be one of those sites with 100 petty rules and were quite relaxed.
The bar and restaurant are good, the food is OK for one or two nights' meals. You're not going to get a gourmet meal there, but for a steak and chips or Moules Frites, it's nice enough. Takeaway was a bit uninspired - just deep-fried things.
(There is a very good bistro / restaurant within walking distance though (20 mins) - La Gargote - dogs seemed to be welcome too).
We watched the entertainment a few nights, it was typical stuff really, tolerable for all nationalities once you'd had a couple of glasses. The shop is really just for basics, though it does get the usual viennoiserie in the mornings, as long as you're quick or pre-order.
The beach outside the camp is not safe to swim from, but is sandy and has nice rock pools. There is a beach 10 mins walk away that is good for swimming and has lifeguards in season. We had a couple of nights having barbecues and fires on the beach and watching shooting stars which was great. One night were were entertained by a bagpipe player which was lovely and random.
We were in a tent down near the beach gate and I have to say it was a bit noisy at night - a lot of surfers were sleeping in their vans and cars in the car park just outside and they weren't very considerate about noise.
It's an easy cycle or drive to the seaside resort of Sables D'Olonne, where there is a good selection of restaurants and shops and a fantastic beach, great for surfing. Bike hire from the campsite was great - there is a lovely forest track you can cycle through up to some nice places along the coast or into town or to the supermarket.
A really good point is that they rent out fridges to campers, for, I think, €5 a day. I've never seen this anywhere else, but maybe I just didn't know to ask.
We're just about to book again for this year, we liked it so much.

We are a family of 2 adults and 3 children age 9 and 3. We stumbled on this campsite and it was absolutely fantastic. The swimming pool is second to none. The kids loved it ( and so did we)The facilities (inc washing machines, washing area, toilets and showers were all very well attended. We only stayed for 4 nights so we were disappointed to go but work commitments prevailed. We would like to go back another time as we couldn't fault it. The takeaway and bar staff were all friendly and welcoming. The croissants are beautiful from the bakery in the morning but please get there early to avoid disappointment. The staff although were very pleasant didn't speak much English but we managed anyway. Our pitch was lovely, we had a 8 man tent and although initially we thought space was too small we actually managed and the trees shaded us. I would definitely recommend this site.

La Dune des Sables. My first impression was it was a tad shabby. Partly because it's in sand dunes and partly it was blisteringly hot. That soon changed. We stayed with Carsima holidays for 2 weeks in a mobile home. The accommodation was first class, The staff were first class, The minor problems we had were sorted out without drama. The site is great, Watersides, pool, bar (3.80 Euro for a pint of stella) Takeaway. The beaches are close by one at the back gate of the camp-site (You get a key) and one about a 10 minute walk heading south along the cycle path. This beach has is guarded in summer. Loads to do locally at Les Sables and La Chume with a superU and the standard Hypermarket, Plenty of restaurants. But whatever you do bring your bikes and get cycling. I took my family cycling into Les Sables, a busy town, something that I wouldn't do in the UK. As a former 'Tenter' I had a quick check out of the toilets and washrooms which were clean and tidy. The 'Tent' pitches seemed small.
