There was nothing we didn’t like about the site. It had all the basic requirements for a peaceful no fuss break.
It’s the second time we’ve been to Old Barn Farm and will definitely continue to use the site as often as we can.
The A490 is close by but we didn’t find this a noise issue at all.

Just spent four nights at this little camp site which is an adults only for only five caravans. Its about a quarter of a mile from the main Barrow road and has great access. The pitch I was on measured twenty four foot by thirty foot of good level limestone, with ehu and water and elsan dumping point and recycle bins very close by.
There are no toilets or showers on site so you got to be self contained. Everything is very neat and tidy and so so quiet, and the owners are very friendly,, never mithered, and no rules, only common sense. They also do bed and breakfast and holiday apartments so they are a very busy couple.
Nearest shop is in a garage about three quarter of a mile down the main road and Newby bridge with couple of hotels that serve food is a mile away. Also Lakeside with the ferries, aquarium, and steam train station and two hotels is a mile and a half away. There is so much to do around the area. Nearest supermarkets are in Ulverston - Booths and Tesco extra in the town centre. This little site is a real gem and I will certainly be back o and the site fees were £12 a night

A nice enough site, however, I don't know how accessible it would be in snow, we arrived on 28th December (were meant to be there for Christmas) and it was still very icy. There is a slight hill on the approach from the main road which I think could be a problem if towing.
It is a strictly 5 van site, unlike some, all hardstandings edged with grass. No problem with Sky tv as it's open to the south, and reasonably level (some pitches are more level than others), near the main road but traffic noise is minimal.
It's easy to get to everywhere; the nearest small shop is at the garage just down the road towards Newby Bridge. There is a Tesco Direct at Bowness and a Booth's supermarket at Ulverston; Kendal is the nearest main centre. You can pick up wifi in the car park of the Swan Hotel at Newby Bridge.

An excellent certificated location in the south of the Lake District.
The site has limited facilities - just electric hook-ups, hard standings and disposal/water point. You'll need your own facilities here.
The location of the site is superb. Although near to the busy A595, within minutes, you can be out in quiet countryside by foot. There's an excellent trail on the opposite side of the road from the site which heads for Windermere.
Newby Bridge is a mile away and has a hotel selling meals. Lakeside is a nice village, with the Lakes Aquarium and boat trips available.
