This is a lovely New Site with fantastic facilities.
The washrooms are heated and First class and the shop, cafe, restaurant and evening entertainment on Weds, Fridays and Sat evenings is brilliant.

£10 for a space between the permanent caravans is fine. The site is flat but the facilities reflect the fact that this is a fishing site. Chatting to some anglers it is clear that the fishing is outstanding but this is a campsite review. The old portacabin shower/loo has gone and the ‘new’ shower block is disgusting. The showers are coin operated but filthy and the toilets ( those that weren’t locked or out of use) were worse. Clearly there is no cleaning or checking by the staff. I would also question the water source as it was not pleasant to drink.
Clearly a fantastic fishing venue but come on Lindholme. If you advertise as a touring site and take our money then invest a little into hygiene.

I have had my fourth visit to Lindholme now and would like to report that there are extra showers and toilets in a portacabin unit next to the brick built shower/toilet/washing up block which will be very useful as the site gets busier.
The fishing continues to be excellent, the customer service and advice given is fantastic, and by the look of the plans in the brochure they are expanding to include a playground, but as yet this has not been built and other than fishing and looking at the wildfowl there isn't anything for the kids to do.
There have been brick built lodges constructed on site which offer the luxury and convenience of just being able to turn up, unpack and go fishing. Although quite small they have all mod cons and would offer a good base for non fishing visitors.

If you are going to Lindholme it is for the fishing and you will already know how good it is. Neil who is the dynamo running the place is working hard on bringing the camping facilities up to scratch and the omens are good. I rang to find out if I would be able to camp and he explained that the first shower block wouldn't be open til April, but that the toilet would be available as well as those in the tackle shop/cafe, and that I would be able to use the EHU close to these anyway. This was good enough for me and away I went. You may want to check whether the facilities are fully open before you go.
Neil was bombing around on his little 'golf cart' when I arrived and he showed me to where I could pitch ( I think he thought I was a bit mad, tenting in March) and offered to help me set up (which I declined as he was obviously busy, but a nice gesture). The site is fairly flat and open to the elements, but the main tent site is surrounded by tourers so there will be some shelter there. I pitched next to the tourers for the EHU and had no problems even during the second night when it did get windy.
The shower block I was next to had only one toilet and shower, and if the other block is the same this may not quite be adequate, but you get the feeling that Neil will deal with this should it be a problem - his customer service is really good; when my camping chair broke he was happy to lend me one of the cafe chairs! Because of the facilities not being ready I was only charged £8 a night with EHU, and with a normal price of £10 per pitch this is fantastic value for money - I think it is the same for tourers too, but please check this.
The entire complex is built around the fishing which is absolutely amazing. Neil and the lads had the tackle shop manned by 7am, the cafe did a roaring trade with the match anglers - I was too busy fishing to get more than a cuppa to take out, and I'm sure in the summer the clubhouse element will really kick in as there is a bar, TVs and pool table.
There is plenty of wildfowl around too, swans, geese, ducks, and a cockerel that means you don't need an alarm clock to be up before dawn ( take earplugs if you want to sleep in!). I did see a buzzard near the woods too. I didn't notice anything for kids to do other than chase the birds around- beware, the swans are hard as nails, and with all the lakes it is definitely not a place for toddlers
The lads in the tackle shop are really helpful, they know which pegs are fishing best and have a genuine interest in making sure you enjoy yourself. The lake themselves are fantastically well stocked, nicely laid out and constantly being improved. Some of the peg numbers are missing, but this is a minor gripe. I was only charged £5 a day for fishing which is a lot less than most big fisheries, and I could write pages on how good the fishing was!
I aim to make a pilgrimage to Lindolme every year, and if my wonderful wife lets me, who knows, I may get back later this year to see how the facilities have improved!
