We have just returned from a four night stay in our campervan at the Prince of Wales campsite in Newton in St Martin and felt compelled to write a review about this fantastic site.
The location of the site is beautiful, surrounded by farmland and in a very small peaceful hamlet. The site is within a short drive of many stunning beaches, lovely villages and other attractions in the area. For our first two nights on the site we had three neighbours but there was plenty of space and privacy for all. For the last two nights the site was empty except for us. The grass pitches and surrounding grounds were perfectly maintained.
The toilet and shower block were immaculately clean. Hot water was instant and plentiful and even when the other campers were there we never encountered a queue.
The food, drink and welcome in the Prince of Wales pub were second to none. We ate there every night and were very sad to leave at the end of our stay. We did not try the camping breakfasts on offer but judging by the food produced by the chef in the evenings I am sure the breakfast would have been brilliant.
All in all, we think this is the best campsite we have ever stayed on and would highly recommend it to others. The only thing to be careful of is the narrow entrance to the site; it wasn’t a problem for our campervan but might be tight for a caravan or motor home.

We booked this campsite for 2 weeks after having eaten in the restaurant last year & stayed for 3 weeks. I told the head gardener I would put a good review up & here it is.
All of the younger & more experienced members of staff including the gardeners, restaurant, bar & toilet attendants were very polite and friendly. The Restaurant was lovely again with Sunday lunches that were delicious, generous & reasonably priced.
The bar was cosy & relaxed with friendly locals without being too stuffy or pretentious. The shower block was new & clean with hot powerful showers. It was unisex which is fine as long as you leave the shower cubicle appropriately dressed.
They were also relaxed about us arriving relatively early & leaving quite late. This was a fabulous help as we completed the long drives down and back hassle free at night simply pitching & sleeping on arrival.
Both the exterior of the Inn front and rear & the small campsite were beautifully maintained & the attention to detail was stunning. The staff worked hard to maintain & develop this & I will remember the Prince of Wales for the precision of the planting & the flowers throughout. This made for a more peaceful & natural setting rather than a tent/motorhome city or barren field as we have experienced in the past.
We’re looking forward to staying next year.

Just returned from a lovely 4 night stay. We were rather surprised on arrival that the entrance is extremely challenging. It is a very narrow entrance between stone walls. We managed to get our touring caravan in by unhooking and using the caravan mover. Once inside the actual site it is a large, very well maintained field with attractive landscaping and very level. The showers and loos are immaculately clean and the power shower is the best I have come across on a site. The pub staff are absolutely charming and couldn't be more helpful. Special mention to Ollie and Rachel for making us so welcome. The pub has loads of ambience and is smartly decorated in keeping with the character. We didn't eat there as we were visiting friends nearby but we will next time. We joined in the fun Sunday night quiz. I would strongly recommend this site and we will definitely return. Please don't be put off by the difficult entrance as once past that you are on a wonderful site.

We arrived while the pub was closed but the grounds workers were expecting us. The field, which looked a lovely place to camp, was waterlogged and we were told we wouldn't be able to camp there but could use the hardstanding at the bottom of the carpark. This was fine, it was dry, had hook up and plenty of space to hang our stuff out to dry off (there had been a lot of rain).
The surrounding grounds were beautifully maintained and the showers were amazing and clean. The pitch was a very good price as well.
I would wholeheartedly recommend the pub for food, it was amazing.
