We found this site via the search function on here and google maps.
Location - Located approx. 20 mins walk from St Georges de Didonnne and 5 mins from the lovely nearby beach. Royan is a 20 / 30 min bike ride away along the promenade cyclepath.
Site - A largish site with a mixture of static and good sized touring pitches.
Checking in / out was easy although there is a refundable 20 euro deposit for the gate fob. Reception is closed from 12. 30 until 14. 30.
A lovely pool although perhaps a little on the small side for the numbers of pitches which is open from 10. 00 to 12. 30 and then from 14. 00 to 19. 00. There are a good number of sunbeds available however these were quickly taken. Tip - go to the pool around 17. 00 when some people are leaving.
There is a cafe / restaurant and bar area although there were only 3 staff to run it, one cooking food, one pouring drinks and one serving the on the floor area. The lad serving on the floor was run off his feet most days! If you do want a table when the evening entertainment is on make sure you reserve a table prior to the event. Unsure on the quality of the food as we didn’t eat there.
The evening entertainment was all in French and finished at about 23. 30 with a variety of acts from karaoke, quizzes, disco etc which differed each week. We watched a few of the acts however as previously mentioned, if you want a table then make sure you book beforehand.
The pitches are a generous size, we had a 10 x 10m pitch, which as mention in previous reviews are separated by trees. Some of the trees on a handful of pitches could intrude onto the pitch however when we booked, the site asked for the size of our tent and accommodated us accordingly.
The pitches are predominantly sand so ensure you have the correct pegs. That said we never fully guyed out our tent and had no issues with wind etc
Whilst the site don't hire fridges directly they have partnered with a company who will deliver and collect to your pitch. Details can be obtained when booking with the site. We were charged 157 euros for a large fridge with a good sized freezer compartment. Essential in the 30 deg heat for all the ice creams! (oh and cold beers / wine)
The bathroom facilities, like a lot of French sites are communal and whilst slightly dated were kept, in the most, spotlessly clean. They are dotted around the site and we never had to wait for a shower or toilet. Just don't forget your toilet roll as none is provided.
Clientele - Mainly French however there were a large contingent of Dutch as well which suited us.
Surrounding Area - The lovely, unspoilt beach is a 5 min walk away with provision for parking and cycle parking. We generally turned right once on the beach and headed to a quieter spot but there is no problems finding a spot as the beach goes on for miles. There is also a wooded area behind the site which is great for walks and biking if it gets too hot.
There are a number of supermarkets within a 10 minute drive although the fruit and veg from the Royan market and the shop just outside the site were far better than the supermarkets could offer.
All in all we would use this campsite again

Reviewers - mature couple with campervan and bikes
We fancied a couple of days at the seaside, and found this site in the ACSI book. It is situated just outside the town, not far from the sea. It was easy to find from the description in the ACSI book.
When we arrived, reception was closed and there was a barrier, so we waited in the car park. Checking in was a bit complicated. After discussing our requirements with the receptionist, we had to wait for one of the staff to take us in a buggy to choose from a couple of pitches. These were a bit scruffy and lacking in grass, but we chose one with some shade. Then we were taken back to reception to give all our details. We were asked to pay on the morning we left, and issued with a card for the barrier which we paid a deposit for.
This is quite a large site with areas of chalets. It has sloping areas which includes some of the pitches. The pitches are not well divided, just a few trees marking the edges. It has a nice pool with a slide, you need a wristband for this, and a small playground. There is a bar/restaurant with TV, though we didn't use it, and a small shop.
There are a number of sanitary blocks, all seem to be unisex, a bit dated but clean. The apparently nearest block was very busy, but we found another on the other side which was quieter.
It's just a short walk to the sandy beach, across the road and down a cul de sac. The beach is lovely and unspoiled, and you can walk along it to the town. Or you can cycle along the road and pick up a sea side cycle path. It took us only a few minutes to cycle to the town centre, where there are a number of shops, a market, and a small supermarket.
Royan is not too far away, but we didn't venture that far. However on our way here we visited Talmont, which is a very picturesque, if touristy, village.
We enjoyed our stay here, and would be happy to use this site again.

We enjoyed our stay on this very French Campsite. A ten minute walk to the beach, well stocked shop and good swimming pool.
The facilities were good - found it best to avoid at 7 ish when everyone returned from the beach!
We had a good pitch away from the gate. Mostly peaceful. Usual Campsite disco/event noises from surrounding campsites but never very late.
The reception staff were very helpful.

This campsite is situated very close to Bois Soleil Campsite at St Georges de Didonnne where we have stayed virtually every year since 1990 in June. This has always been our first choice site because it is a Camping Cheques site and we have always enjoyed staying there.
The Ideal Camping site is only a few hundred yards away and although it does not have the same on site access to the beach always looks a very attractive site. In contrast to Bois Soleil in June it always looks very quiet but from the outside it looks really clean, well kept and smart and I cannot understand why there are no previous reviews for it.
As far as I am aware it is neither a Camping Cheques or Acsi site and possibly it is a Hi Season site generally for French holidaymakers. The pitches appear to be open under trees rather than hedged but if we were to arrive at St Georges and find that we were unable to get into Bois Soleil we would have no hesitation in holidaying there.
