Given some of the reviews we'd seen, we were a little apprehensive, but in reality, it was fine.
We weren't overly happy about the unisex toilets, but everywhere seemed clean enough and the informal on-site bar was fun.
It's easy to get into the centre of Antwerp either by bike (through the tunnel) of by the river taxi.
Antwerp itself, was ok, but a little bit of a disappointment after Bruges.

I certainly would not recommend this site, we arrived to find no one on duty at 18. 00 and what looked like a nice site on Google earth in reality it was a nightmare. The caravans and motor packed in with very little space between units, it does not have as posted a swimming pool and one guy I spoke to said it was used by people working in the area on a tempory basis.
The only reason we chose it was it's within walking distance to the centre of Antwerp
Just a foot note to what I have said, and that is ACSI have removed this site from the list of sites around Antwerp. It was packed solid, fire regulations did not apply, the toilet was dirty and only one working one, no body on hand, just a phone No, which just rang and rang out. It may look good on Google but it don't in real time

We stayed here for just one night in early October. A fantastic little site.
The toilet/shower block is clean, pitches are big and it's pretty good value. Its real attraction of course is the fact that it's just a short walk (via a pedestrian tunnel) into Antwerp itself.
Because the site's the other side of the river to the central part of Antwerp it's very quiet at night.
There's no shop, bar, pool or anything on the site, but that's not why you camp in a city centre campsite after all.
Antwerp itself is fantastic. As pretty as Brugges, yet with far fewer tourists - it's much more of a 'real' city. The bars are busy, the restaurants good and there's loads to see.
Go there!

We have used this site on the edge of central Antwerp on 4/5 occasions in the past few years. In early 2011, Antwerp local authority, in line with raising money for city funds, sold this municipal camp site to private owners. About feb/mar 2011.
As one of the reviews stated it was a very cheap site at 8. 50 euros and 10 euros for a family.
Having an excellent location, clean toilets/ showers. All free
However, in summer months, especially at weekends and some mid week nights, the off site dance club adjoining the grounds to the site, had very loud music until sometimes 2/3 in the morning.
Now with private owners, the prices have more than doubled to 18. 50 euros and higher as things are charged individually. Eg car, adults, children etc. This may seem quite fair and is reasonable for a city location. But for those of us on a tighter budget and more importantly having known the site as a cheaper but well kept municipal type camp ground, and having got to know some of the local Belgium seasonal residents there, the increase was not representative of anything other than privatisation.
Nothing new had been introduced, the toilets were just as clean and the loud music at weekends still persisted into the early hours.
Pitches are average not large in size. 80-100m2. Sometimes need 2 electric cables to power points.
In summer time the 'feel' of the site will be different to autumn.
Overall, good site for visiting the gay scene in Antwerp or on the way to Germany or the Netherlands, as we will hope to do later this year.
I hope this has been helpful and informative account of the site and its touring members.

Everyone visiting Belgium visits Bruges, but it's become a bit of a Disneyfied film set. Antwerp has just as much History, and real things to see, in a real city. We wandered around the Diamond Museum with our mouths open - and hardly anyone else there. The house where Rubens lived is just up the road, but we were window shopping by this time, mouths open again, and thinking just how these Flemish cities are far more prosperous than our cities at home. And if you must visit Bruges, then go by train from here, and you get to see Antwerp railway station - mouths wide open again. It's like an Italian opera house.
The camp site is just across the river - a tram ride or a 15 minute walk via a pedestrian tunnel. It's very popular because it's so central - and because it's ridiculously cheap. I think 8.50 euros included electricity and free wi-fi. The site was just about full, even in early May, so it really is best to book ahead for this one.
I've never recommended a camp site in Belgium before, so here is a first in 40 years of touring in Europe.
