Lovely place in secluded area. Met by owner who made us feel really welcome.
Toilets and showers very clean.
Games room small but had pool tables, football game and table tennis table.
Selection of books for both young and old available too.
No food served but bar open both nights.
Very friendly staff working in it.
Only downside was no Internet and poor phone coverage

Fell in love with the place instantly. Received a very warm welcome in the most beautiful setting. Family run all of whom have a sense of humour and great customer service. So hospitable.
They have created an amazing environment given how things are at the moment for which they should be highly commended.
Facilities very clean. With a games room, bar, great views it's a great place for everyone.
Definitely worth a visit. They also make a scrummy b52 😉😉

I thoroughly recommend this site. The attention to detail is first class. A huge modern barn has been converted to a large recreational space for table tennis, pool and tables to eat. There is a well equipped kitchen and excellent showers and toilets which were immaculately clean. It is slightly isolated away from nearby towns but that is part of the beauty of it. Great host Colin and his family looked after me as I arrived with no food on my pushbike. The attached pub has a long history and been in the family for several generations.

The Sheperds rest is a gem. Its in a lovely spot, and has everything you need. The pub has an area at the rear for campers and caravans, plus the campers cottage, and a modern toilet/shower block. The pub is very cosy at night with its open fire, and it has a lot of character. The owner Colin is a lovely man, who is glad to sit and chat with you at the bar, telling you about anything you want to know about the area. I will definitely be back as the place is so friendly.

Great wee site, located in the middle of nowhere, with poor phone and TV signal which makes it ideal to get away from everything. Owner is very friend and helpful, even let us store our bikes in his barn/sheds. Lovely wee cottage at the top of the field for relaxing in at nights with the fire blazing.

Just back from a superb stay at the Shepherd's Rest Caravan and Campsite.
The facilities are excellent, plenty of hook-ups and taps, level hard standings and great showers which are free. What really makes this site is the thoughtfulness of the extra facilities, from the number of seats, tables and picnic tables including a swingseat and rocking chairs to the summer house at the top of the site with beautiful views and the cottage with sink, kettle and peat fire which is lit each evening. We spent every evening in here, a great place to get to know other campers.
The owner was very friendly and helpful, the facilities well maintained.
Its location on the East Sperrin Scenic drive is beautiful and a fairly central location for exploring the Sperrins which are beautiful.
We will definitely be back! The swings etc. are all in good working order.
One of the reviewers mentions the noise, yes, at the weekends the pub is a venue for parties and it can be very busy and depending on the guests, noisy. However, we were aware of this from their website and just accepted that this is part of their business.
At other times, the site was quiet and peaceful. One minor concern, which, as the site was quite quiet didn't affect us, was that there are only two showers/toilets, one for men, one for ladies and as the toilet is in the wetroom shower, there could be queues (Our caravan is old and doesn't have shower facilities and from a tenting point of view. )
However, as said, this didn't actually cause us a problem, but as the site is sure to become more popular, maybe more toilets would be a help. But a wonderful site in a beautiful location. I thoroughly recommend it!

Decided to have short weekend break in Northern Ireland. Found The Shepherd's Rest on the web. Looked nice, picturesque, quiet little site. It is in a field at the back of a pub which worried us but we were reassured by the website which declared it was relaxing place to stay.
Site is well laid out. Plenty of space, individual tent spots, nice scenery. Electric hook-ups for caravans.
There is a little traditional Irish cottage at the back of the site which has an open turf fire, seating, table, sink, kettle, toaster and sewing machine! The fire was kindly lit by the owner each day.
The washing facilities are excellent: washing machine and dryer, iron and board, drying line. Showers are included in the price and superb.
The little pub is traditional and quaint. Owner is friendly and welcoming. Rates are reasonable.
The kiddies play area is not great: a sand pit, broken swings and a wobbly slide. Would worry about letting younger kiddies near it.
The site is in an isolated location so private transport is an absolute must.
There are a couple of negative aspects to this site.
The major drawback is the pub. Our first night (Friday) was fine and quiet. The second night we had young, drunken blokes in the field playing football and cursing loudly for an hour in the dark until midnight. Then, as there was a party going on in the pub, there was extremely loud music blaring until the small hours of the morning and we didn't get to sleep until around 2am.
In total, I think I would recommend you use this site for a weekday stopover when it is probably quieter at night, but if you are going at the weekend, then definitely phone ahead to find out if there are any parties on during your stay.

This is a lovely quiet and peaceful site situated in the Sperrin hills (or mountains if you prefer). We were given a warm welcome.
New serviced hard standings well spaced out, and tents area. Facilities very clean though might be a bit stretched if site full.
Nice walks and drives in all directions for shops and eateries - Omagh, Draperstown, Magherafelt etc. Also historic places such as Beaghmore stone circles which I never new existed!
This is one of those places you promise yourself you'll come back to. Nice to have in the ACSI guide too.
