This is a super CL with views over golf course.
Very clean modern toilets on the site and a bathroom available free of charge with shower bath & wc in the hotel. The hotel staff are very friendly and you can order your newspaper from them.
Bar area is lovely, cosy and snug with a friendly atmosphere. Bar snacks are good and reasonably priced. Also a very nice dining room with an excellent menu.
The garden areas around the hotel are very attractive.
We used the hotel for coffee, drinks and bar meals. Nice relaxed atmosphere used by golfers, hotel guests and caravanners everyone made welcome.
We spent 5 nights over the New Year period and were treated to a super firework display at midnight New Years Eve.
We had a lovely time at this excellent CL and have booked again for next year.

Small site enclosed with no views.
Behind hotel, so 'fun' to find caravan friendly entrance.
No showers even though supposed to have them, but toilets very clean.
Grey water difficult to dispose of.
Very quiet.
Hotel staff very helpful, although didn't confirm booking (had to ring to confirm).
Not particularly good entrance through corner of car park.
Someone had dumped pile of wood / furniture over fence adjacent to fresh water point, which was not particularly attractive.
Overall could do with a little TLC.

The attraction of this site was that it was so close to Grimsthorpe Castle where there was a weekend of husky racing.
We were aware that the CL was predominantly grass but we were told that the rear car park was all hardstanding and would be suitable for us at the end of February. This proved to be the case as there was evidence of someone being stuck on the grass judging by the churned up turf!
The water & electric points were close by.
The hotel staff were all very accommodating. It is open 'all day' and we visited a couple of times on our 5 night stay. The hot chocolate after a days biking in the cold was very welcome.
One slight concern was that this car park was used for the function room in the evenings and there was every chance that you could be 'blocking in' should you need to an emergency get-away. Thankfully we didn't but it could be an issue.
But we have very few negative comments about Toft House Hotel CL - mostly positive ones
