We stayed on this site for 9 days this summer. This is a beautiful area and the village of Sainte-Enimie is stunning. The campsite is right next to the River Tarn, which is the best river I have camped next to - perfect for swimming, paddling, jumping into and generally playing about in on lilos, dinghies etc. Our 7 and 11 year old children loved it. At this time of year the depth and current were perfect.
Be aware if you book a river pitch it doesn't mean you can skip out of your tent down to the water's edge, you merely have a river view. The campsite's website doesn't make this clear. You still have to walk down to the river's beach to access the water. The view was lovely though, so I'm glad we paid extra for it.
The campsite has a well stocked shop, obviously more expensive than a supermarket. There is a large SuperU in Mende, but it takes at least 30min to get there. In Sainte-Enimie there is a pizza restaurant that does lovely take-away pizzas. There are also loads of other restaurants, but we didn't eat out.
You can't use your own charcoal bbq on the site, but there is a good communal area.
The toilet block/showers are great and very well cleaned twice a day. The showers weren't that hot but it was a constant, rather than fluctuating, temperature.
There is a sweet children's playground and table tennis table.
A canoe trip down the river is a must. The prices between companies are pretty comparable.
Also not explained on the campsite's website is the lack of facility to freeze your ice-packs. If you wish to use a non-electric cool box you have to purchase bottles of frozen mineral water at 1. 50E per bottle. The toilet area has ample room for a couple of chest freezers so this seems like a complete money making scheme.
This is a quiet campsite, which is how we like it, perhaps a little too quiet for our children who like to make lots of friends.

The Gorges du Tarn will give you some of the most spectacular scenery in France.
Ste Enimie is a pretty, medieval, riverside town on the D907, which is the tourist route that runs pretty much the length of the Gorges alongside the river.
Camping Les Fayards can be found about a kilometre or so south west of Ste Enimie just below the D907 in a riverside location with most of the site in the welcome shade of huge beech trees. The owners of the site are lovely people and we were given a warm welcome. We arrived, without booking, late in June and were given a choice of sunny or shaded pitches on the riverside or not. All pitches seemed to be a good size with electricity available on most – not particularly grassy but that’s due to the climate! Pitches are level although the walk to the bar was up a quite steep slope! There were a few, mainly French, campers on site when we arrived, getting a little busier over the 2 weeks that we stayed.
The site has 2 river beaches (pebbled) and the water is quite suitable for swimming, crystal clear and most refreshing! Sanitation facilities were immaculately clean with plenty of hot water for showers and washing up throughout the day.
There is a café/bar and shop at the entrance to the site. The shop has all the basics with fresh bread and pastries each morning. Between the site shop and the village you could get everything you need, although you would need to go further afield for a sizeable supermarket. There is free WiFi in the bar which I found I could also use on the pitch and breakfast/sandwiches are available all day.
A laundry area is also near the site entrance for washing, drying and ironing.
This is quite a rural site and would not be for those seeking pools and noisy entertainment!
The area has plenty to do and see. Particularly popular is canoe hire and you can travel many kilometres down the river where they will collect you and return you to the town or campsite. It is also a fine area for walking, cycling or just touring around the most beautiful villages that the area can offer.
I would especially recommend seeing the river and gorges from the barques at La Malene which is a bit further down the river Tarn. The barques are traditional, flat bottomed barges which can be booked for 2 or 4 people and your trip (which lasts about an hour)will include a commentary from the boatman following which you will be driven back to La Malene. A stunning excursion!

We heartily agree with everything on the previous review. Super site, gorgeous scenery, friendly people in village. Good cafes and restaurants in village and surrounding area.
Supermarkets in Mende (20 minutes drive), and Thursday market in Florac (up river, 1/2 hour) not to be missed, but get there early, as it ends just after lunch time.
Plenty to see and do in the area, plus a trip for a day to the Med (Agde or Sete) can be done easily.
A canoe trip down the Tarn is an absolute must. Views from the top of the gorge are stunning, whichever route you take.
Highly recommended. We'll be there again this year!
