 A pleasant surprise; the big Caravan Club sites near york were full and we wanted to visit the family and go to the Xmas market. Phoned up; didn't book and just turned up and pitched, job done.
The site is run from the Inn so don't do what we did and knock on the bungalow door as you enter the site, DOH!
The owner is friendly and the Inn is a lovely place for a quick pint or food. The pitches are hardstandings and each has its own water supply and hook up nearby, they are level and the site looks well maintained and nicely lit at night.
As a CL there is a waste point, but no other amenities. We couldn't find any bins so took our rubbish home with us, and the waste water had to go into the chemical disposal point as we couldn't find a drain either!
But other than that we had a nice overnight stay, and at only 6 miles from the park and ride it is very handy for York.
A good CL, in a handy position but the facilities are just about enough to make do; extra points for a relaxed attitude from the owners when we asked if we could leave a bit later the next day so we could go to the market in the morning.
