Pulling up through what looked to be a logging site I was a little bit apprehensive about my surprise weekend away, however as soon as the owner's greeted us I was put completely at ease as we followed John in his 4x4 and drove through the fields up to the woods.
We parked up a few hundred yards from the tent (the field proved to be great for flying our kite!) which meant the car was out of view but close enough to pop back to. Having just opened we had the blue bell covered woodland to ourselves which looked beautiful. We got there quite late, but the fire was already roaring away and as we walked along the path through the trees (the solar powered path lights were a great touch) we arrived at our bell tent. Very good spot as you are completely sheltered from any wind, have a fantastic view and the calm and quiet makes for a very tranquil setting. The bell tent was big, on a raised platform and felt very secure. I think their intention is to kit it out with all the luxury items for camping but being a brand new site we brought everything with us and were soon staring up at the stars next to the fire (huge pile of wood provided - if you run out you are in a forest!, cooking grate and kettle). The shower was very refreshing and you felt very at one with nature! (luxury shower gel provided) and the toilet is ready prepared with loo roll and sawdust. All very well done.
The spot is perfect for exploring with a farm shop a short walk away and a couple of pubs about 30 minutes away. Very close to Hever Castle and Pooh Corner! If you want to get away from it all, have the woods to yourselves to explore (be quick as I think their may be a few more tents by the summer!) then this is the place for you. The owners were very friendly and gave us lots of information about the surrounding area.Just remember to take some bug repellent as bell tents aren't glued and sealed like the modern tent's I was used to! Considering it has only just opened it was perfect for us to get away from it all and have our own little blue bell woodland for the weekend!
