Campsite is in an elevated field beside the pub with AMAZING views but quite exposed so could be windy.
The pub toilets were available for use during the day and the food there in the evening was very good.
Make sure you set satnav for correct blacksmiths arms as confusingly there is another very close.

Small site in a field above a fairly busy pub, next to a fairly busy road. The pub is located at a traffic-light controlled cross-roads, so there is a fair amount of traffic noise, with vehicles either slowing down to approach the traffic-lights, or accelerating away from the lights. There are a couple of quarries nearby, so there is some heavy vehicle traffic.
Pitch facilities are limited - water is available at the entrance to the field, along with waste water drainage. Electric hookup is not available.
The staff at the pub are friendly, and were happy for us to use the domestic power supply near to the toilets for a hairdryer.

My third stay and the first post plague. I'm so happy that the Blacksmith Arms has come through as country pubs like this are closing all the time.
Although they aren't great at replying to emails everything else is great about this place for an overnight stay. The camping site has running water and note can get boggy in wet weather.
The views are wonderful, the food reliably good and the staff always friendly.
Their new Covid measures have actually added to the appeal of the place as one can now chance the weather and sit outside.
PS Check the address and don't confuse it with the other Blacksmiths Arms a few miles away.

A lovely clean site, water and elsan point was in a great location in relation to camping pitches,
The pub on site did lovely take out meals, and had extended their take away meal menu and times due to covid, which really helped myself and my husband due to me shielding,
Will definitely go back again

Just had an overnight stopover as was visiting Huddersfield. What a find. Nicely kept field. Locked gate. Pitches at the top of the field giving nice views. There are chemical waste and drinking water areas. Phone ahead as it was busy.
The food at the pub. Superb.
All in all will return and recommend anyone to go and stay.

Wonderful little site, and was so glad we went hook up free for our first time ? Staff are so helpful and laid back nothing was too much trouble.
Take your pick the owner said and come and go as you please, the pitches are up a slight raise at the end of the pub car park which is gated off, this levels out on top and there is more than enough room to position out outfit. There is fresh water and grey waste drains, BUT NO HOOK UP ! This usually would of been a major problem to us, but not this time !
(( we had just return from a long weekend away, half term, and wanted to go off again before the end of the season, this site is half way from our house and where we store the caravan so was perfect, also work commitments and a party meant we had to be local for £6 per night YES £6 this was a bargain and was glad we stayed here))
Pub food can only be described dam fantastic proper home cooked food ( I was going to say grub but its much much better than that).
I did ask if there was any plans for electric hook ups and yes, there are plans, but that's all they are at this stage.
We pleaded never to go without electric or showers but after staying at this site we have a different view completely great site well run.
P. S. IF and WHEN electric hook ups are installed, go a little further and put a tap per pitch in as well. The only disappointment you will have is to keep turning people away as I am sure you will be booked up.

We have recently come over to the UK from Australia and have bought a caravan with the intention of touring the UK for 6 months. This is the 1st site that we stayed on as we have relatives close by and also needed to stock up the van. The site is a pub site and is a grassy area at the back of the carpark. They have 6 pitches available. It is on the top of a hill with magnificent views over Huddersfield. It is far enough away from the pub for privacy. We ate in the pub a few times and they serve really nice meals at reasonable prices. The staff were really friendly and helpful. There is a fresh water and waste point. There are no electric hook up's so only basic facilities and no toilets or showers. It is a short walk into Kirkheaton. There is a Costcutters, Indian take away and fish and chip shop as well as a few other shops. We stayed for 12 nights and really enjoyed our time there and will certainly return at the end of our trip.
