 Quiet. Clean and tidy
River on site.
Convenient for Forest Huelgoat
Facilities great especially for families, swimming pool, trampoline, games room etc

We decided to spend a couple of nights here as it looked like an interesting place to stay. It’s easy enough to find as the site is well signed through the town of Heulgoat. On approach, the site appears a little messy, there’s a nice pixy mural at the entrance which has a cement mixer and other rubbish in front of it – it looks like some landscaping work was being done which made us think that perhaps it had new owners, but some campers told us that they had been flooded during the winter. The site is situated alongside a small river and is in a pretty wooded area, and the facilities are kept clean. There is also a nice little covered L shaped swimming pool.
I must say there were a few things which irritated us slightly. The chemical toilet emptying was in a funny little shed with plants growing through the roof, and there was no hose or tap to rinse. There was a grubby hose around the corner, but I assumed this was for topping up water for camper vans (but I wouldn’t use it to top up my drinking water), alongside a rather over grown grey waste area – which was not designed to drive over.
This site is in a lovely peaceful wooded area, about 3 km from the town of Huelgoat. The site hire out bikes, but we went out on our bikes and we thought that really the area is more suited to walking through the woods, rather than cycling on the roads. Lots of interesting short walks and big boulders!
We don’t like: poor camper van area, showers shut at 10pm until 7. 30am, only 3 outside toilets when shower block shut.
We like: Proper loos with toilet paper, toilet seats and clean, woodland setting – we watched jays & a woodpecker whilst eating our supper.
Although this site didn’t particularly do it for us, I would imagine many would love it here.

Beautiful wooded location, small secluded site, we camped right next to the river (a tumbling trout stream). There are plenty of toilets and showers, all nice and clean. There is a pool on site, but we didn't use it and never really had a look at it so can't really comment. As we were there in early June, there was still some work going on at the site to get it ready for the peak season in July/August but it didn't detract too much from our experience. Various sized pitches were available but most seemed on the smaller side (plenty big enough for most but very large motorhomes might struggle to manoeuvre into some pitches). The site is situated in the national park and the roads around the site are lovely to drive, winding through the valley. Huelgoat is just a short drive or cycle ride away and is a pretty little town with a few shops and restaurants and a supermarket.
