Please note we have been advised that this campsite has closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches although the waterside centre itself remains open. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

I will write down the downside of this campsite, firstly the noise from trains, and traffic are very disturbing at times but the noise slow down after tea time from the traffic the trains always kept running, the outside toilets had no lighting in the evening, so it was quicker and lighter to go in the bushes, but all this about the bad side noise, lighting, is nothing compared to the campsite scenery and the staff and the price of our stay hit 10/10 in our books, we are looking and arranging our next stay.

This is a lovely little site. Consisting of two small areas, behind the Wokingham waterside centre on the banks of the Thames. On arrival we were booked in and allowed to pitch where we liked. There is only one place to pitch if you want a view of the river, which is behind the fire bucket post.
There was a trolley available for getting all our gear to the site as the car has to be left in the car park. About 60mtres away up the hill. The car park has gates which are looked from dust till dawn.
The facilities are excellent within the centre access via a swipe card. Only drawback is that the five showers are communal are in the men s and ladies changing rooms. Also you have the use of the kitchen for washing up and getting water.
There is a Tesco superstore about 10 to 15 minutes walk away {turn left up stream and over the bridge with crosses the Kennet and Avon canal}. Difficult to find via car.
Reading town centre is only about 25to30 minutes walk following the path beside the canal.
The only down side is that the site is a bit noisy. The main line trains thunder pass near by. The road is close which adds to the noise. Perhaps the lower area would be a bit quieter?
While we were their, a fire pit was being dug to add to the facilities.
Although noisy we had a very nice stay for two nights.

Arrived at the site late (i. E. Dusk) and without a reservation, so didn't expect much of a reception. However, another tenter told me that the toilet block was open all night, staff would arrive in the morning and open the shower room for us.
Setting is beautiful, high above the Thames River which is full of swans and ducks, lovely place for an evening walk before bed. 24-hour Tessco is about 1/2 mile upriver along a path.
However, the main rail line to/from London runs along the back of the pitch, so trains were going past every few minutes.
