My daughter and I spent two fab nights in the octolodge. It was very cute and far better than a night under canvas. The fridge/freezer was an excellent addition in our recent spell of hot weather. Flat screen tv with freeview, kettle and microwave, even a table and chairs set provided on your private veranda. The toilet block was spotless and very modern. Outside your octolodge is a slab area for your bbq. The very pleasant owners have thought of everything! They even lent us a torch to access the loo in the night! The 'pet lambs and calf' were adorable. Gretal the ginger cat was very friendly too! An excellent place to stay, minutes from the Haverthwaite Railway, and Lakeside Landing Pier for the Windermere Cruisers. A 15 to 20 minute picture perfect journey to the Car ferry to Windermere. Petrol station at Newby Bridge, just before turn off to Bouth, next one up at Ulverston along with a Booths supermarket, some 7 miles past the Bouth turn off. Whilst in Ambleside, treat yourself to a visit to the Apple Pie Eating House! Mega café, with fab pasties and bath buns! Thank you for a fab stay, see you again. D and H xx

Brilliant! The octolodges were fantastic; lovely and warm at night (even had to ask for the wonderful underfloor heating to be turned down), very clean and well-equipped and plenty of space in the 4-bed one for two adults and two small children.
The site was very quiet, only 6 lodges, on a working farm complete with sheep dog. The daughter loved the ping-pong, football goal and table football, and the washing up and bathroom facilities were fine and also very clean and new.
The site seems very remote (in a good way!) but is still only a very short drive from Windermere, some lovely walks and the various Beatrix Potter attractions. It is also easy to find and not at all far from the motorway.
The owners were lovely and helpful and present if wanted but also discreet. We had a nice meal in the White Hart in a nearby village and the owner also recommended the cafe at the Motor Museum for a good but cheap lunch. The boat trip up Windermere and walk back down to catch another boat was fantastic.
At the end of the stay we wrote in the visitor's book, which was full of positive comments.
Will definitely be going back.
Very reasonably priced too.
