We arrived on Wednesday 17th August, I chose this site as it was 35 miles from Barrow on the Bay Cycleway. All three of us camped, the only draw back was there was not sink to wash the pots, I've stay at a lot of basic campsites and its most odd not to provide theses.
Otherwise the site is good, the grass is short and the clippings are removed, the owner is very helpful.

Looking forward to visiting this quiet peaceful site again. Good views and plenty of walks from the site. Close enough to go into the lakes for touring and walking. Brian and janice always helpful and make you welcome. The toilet; shower and cd are adequate for a hide away site. A childrens playground in the village. And historic church in nearby cartmel village.

Struggled to find a good value site in this area. This CAme in at £15 per night for a pitch, which was cheaper than others in the area, but overpriced for facilities. Basically a small paddock next to a farm which is being renovated, backs not people's gardens. 1 toilet, which appeared to be being renovated, 1 shower which you had to pay extra for. The farm shop is closed down.
Level pitches, friendly owners, electric hook up available in price.

We had a fantastic time here and would return but it is very basic! The toilet was very simple in a very old building, the shower/personal wash room was slightly more modern. The site was incredibly peaceful and having only 5 pitches makes for a quiet break. 3 of the pitches are good for tents, with 2 quite sloping.
Part way through our break we discovered we could request products from the Farm Shop and the meat was lovely. The Shop is only open Fri & Sat 10 - 3 but you can knock on the house door to ask for what you need.
There were 2 pubs within a short walk. We ate at Yakkers and really enjoyed it.
There is a lovely playground in Allithwaite really close to the campsite but not close enough for children to make their own way there.
Cartmel is well worth a visit and only a few minutes drive away, there is a well stocked Spar there and some speciality shops and several pubs/restaurants.
If you want a peaceful break or even a walking base - this campsite is perfect and very reasonably priced at £10 per night. If you want facilities, washing-up etc, then this is not the place for you.
We will be back!

Happy to recommend this site. For £10 we got all we needed: EHU; attractive views to the hills; a mown grass paddock for 5 units between the farm shop (open Fri & Sat only) and the open fields; absolute peace and quiet; an adequate toilet with a light and toilet paper (you don't always get these at a site this cheap!); a separate shower that costs 50p for 8 minutes (which is ample, and the room is big enough for two to shower at the same time); usual CDP and stand-pipe. We had the site to ourselves over a June weekend - the owners were there if you rang the doorbell, but otherwise we didn't see them. Dog walking off lead wasn't possible locally but the lanes are very quiet; even though the paddock was empty bar our van, we kept our dog attached to the bumper as she was fascinated by the flock of white geese next door.
It's on the edge of a village looking over Morecambe Bay (Yakkers pub is in walking distance, we didn't try it); it's very close to pretty Cartmel village (races and sticky toffee pudding - note that the village shops are closed on Mondays), Holker Hall (superb gardens), Grange-over-Sands (prize winning butchers / pie shop), and the heart of the Lakes are an easy day trip.
Although it's a CCC site, we were not asked for our membership number at booking or at checking in, though that may not always be the case of course.
