This site is now open again.
It's a wonderful idyllic place, full of local wildlife and set off the beaten track.
Simon is the perfect host and makes you feel totally welcome.
Lovely long walks along the embankment and miles of quiet flat roads for cycling.
We just come to chill and to take in nature.
Perfect!

Great site, to get away from it all, feels like your in the middle of nowhere.
The dog loved the long walks on the Humber banks.
The owners are great and leave you alone, unless you need anything. Facilities are basic but we have everything we need in the caravan, .
All in all great site, I'll be back

Turned up in November and the site was a tad water logged - but to be fair it was flooding across the county.
All the same I have a nice dry and secluded spot and the owners seemed really nice.
The site is about 2 mins walk from the Humber Estuary and really out off the beaten path - there's a bird sanctuary a about 25 mins drive away -
I'll definitely go back - but only a short trip in the the tent as there is no shower on site.

Lovely flat site that feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, despite being only a few miles from the city of Hull.
Although there is an ecological toilet, wi-fi and electric hook-up, that's pretty much it - it's very much for those who are reasonably 'self-contained'.
And for those of us who are, it's just perfect. Great for 'getting back to the wild' and peaceful walks along the coast line, spotting wildlife.
Manager is very warm and characterful - very friendly site.

Stayed for 2 nights at this basic but fantastic and secluded site. There are no toilets or showers but this wasn't a problem for us.
The camping field is very flat and is well maintained. It is surrounded by trees some of which are apple trees which the owner lets you help yourself to. Fantastic! Fresh apples straight from the tree.
The landscape in the area is very similar to that of the Netherlands and so is ideal for cycling, especially as there is very little traffic on the roads around Sunk Island/Stone Creek.
The site is next to the Humber and is great for watching the ships going up and down the river. This may sound boring but I was fascinated by it as it is a busy river and there are some very large ships that sail by the site.
Stone Creek is interesting area with a very small harbour for boats. It is also possible to canoe safely in the Keyingham Drain, a water channel which runs from Holderness to the Humber.
Great area for bird watching and there were quite a few bird watchers who suddenly appeared near the site so I guess a rare bird had been spotted nearby. I saw quite a few herons but they are very common in the area.
Fishing is available either in the Humber or from the fishing platforms at Keyingham Drain which is next to Stone Creek.
This is an ideal site for dogs as the footpath along the river bank means that you can walk for miles with the dog off the lead. Our dog loved it and snored very loudly at night!
There are some old disused military sites nearby (Sunk Island Coastal Battery and Sunk Island Anti-Aircraft Battery). One is on private land but can be viewed easily from the footpath on top of the river bank; it is on the opposite side of the creek in the small harbour area. The other one, which is a short walk away and is hidden by trees, can be explored as a footpath runs through the site.
There is a surprisingly good selection of services in the local villages. This includes a chippy/Indian & Chinese restaurant & takeaways/pubs (which serve food/ and a small co-op and a selection of shops in the villages Thorngumbald/Keyingham/Ottringham. There are larger supermarkets at either Hedon or Withernsea which are both a short drive away.
If you fancy a busier day out, the East Yorkshire coast and Hull are both nearby.
This is a fantastic site and we will be returning to it soon.
