We recently visited the Peacock Inn for a second time for weekend stay, the Inn is in a very nice location with a couple of village pubs and some very nice woodland walks. We enjoyed it the first time and decided to go again, big mistake.
On arrival, we were told that the campsite toilets and showers were out of order, and there was no water supply at the chemical waste point, we were asked to use a bucket of water to clean it down if we used it, but no bucket was supplied. The camp field was so churned up and soggy it was suggested that we park on the car park.
Well we had a nice evening meal to look forward to at the Peacock, or so we thought. On our previous visit, the food was to an acceptable standard, this time, both meals were awful.
We had spent a fair amount of money for a weekend away and basically got nothing for it, and to top it all, the toilets in the Peacock had no loo roll, and the hand drier did not work.
I think the owners, who are both very nice, need to look very closely at the service they are providing to their customers, while they still have some.

We arrived at this site at 5pm on a friday. On arrival we were told the field was boggy and to be carefully. We drove onto the field to find it very uneven. We pitched next to the toilet block and almost had the front of the caravan on the floor to get it level.
When I went to get some water I found there wasn't any at the tap for drinking or rinsing. We went back to the bar to be told the pipes had frozen and therefore we would have to use the tap at the front of the pub which was a bit of a pain but not too far to go I suppose. However we were not told this when booking or when checking in and had we not had our own toilet and shower it would have been a massive problem as water to shower block was off and the doors were kept locked.
We stayed for two nights and went into the pub for both nights but only stayed for one drink as it was nearly empty and found the few in there to be a bit stuck up. Staff were always friendly though.
Surrounding area was nice with plenty of woodland to walk the dog.
I think this would be a good site for the summer when the field is dry and the plumbing issues are sorted. This site is also good for a quiet relaxing break.

Had a 1 night stay over and would certainly visit again. Surprised on arrival that the carpark was full and couldn't access the site, turns out that the local school uses it for parking when collecting the children. All but two had gone within 15 minutes of our arrival. If possible don't arrive at school turnout time.
Campsite is a field that looked a bit wet but the owner suggested we use the car park and he would run a power cable from the pub, this offer we took up. With the use of chocks we quickly had a reasonably level site for the night.
Used the pub in the evening and recommend the food with the home made curry being very good. It was also open mic night and this turned into a highly entertaining night.
Owner and staff all very friendly and happy to recommend.

This is a brilliant site for us, everything we need. Very nice pub serving good straightforward food, some homemade dishes, at a reasonable price with 3 real ales which are well kept.
It is brilliant for dog walks with woodland adjoining the site then you can walk over a field to Linneker reservoirs with more fantastic walks, dog heaven.
There is a toilet and shower block, showers locked (presume you get key at pub), the toilets were clean if basic and there were hand basins.
Only 2 hookups that we could see (on back of toilet block).
Staff all very friendly, we will certainly make this a regular stop for weekends away.
We met up with friends for a music session and were able to use one of the pubs many rooms, We also noticed that they have regular entertainment nights.
