Small quiet site. Owners are a lovely couple who are very helpful. Has a toilet and a shower. Nice walk nearby into york at side of River Foss ( takes around 1. 5 hours at a leisurely pace ). Bus stop nearby. Shopping centre a short drive away and dog friendly pub and a shop around 1 mile away. Pitch fees are £14 per night. If you want a small peaceful site then this will suit you just fine.
What a gem of a site. Nothing to fault. Fantastic customer service, well maintained site and a good price. The only niggle would be the busy road that you can here from the site although you do get used to it after a while. Be aware you if need milk and bread etc it's a good walk to the shops and you'll probably need to get in the car. Saying that Monks Cross and Asda is near by. Located near a bus stop into York centre.
The site is off a main road so easy to access. The main field has 5 EHU pitches and there is an overflow site for tents (non-EHU). A friendly welcome awaits on arrival and you can choose where you pitch.
The toilet and shower is basic and requires a £1 coin to operate but this was sufficient for 5 of us. The chickens on site provide fantastic fresh eggs for breakfast. There is a sink in the conservatory area for washing up and a fresh water tap on the outbuilding.
There is a small (diy) play area for the children with a roundabout and a tree swing (although it is very muddy around the area and was originally built for grandkids of the site owners).
An access road runs for a mile or more from the site which makes a nice evening walk. It is about 20 mins by bus into the centre of York however we did the park and ride from Monks Cross Retail Park, which is about 5 mins drive away.
Excellent site for accessing York - if you like quiet and simple sites. Brilliant for the money £12 per night with hook-up and £9 per night without.
Will return again for a weekend break!
