Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, this site has closed with effect from 2012.
It cost us £5pppn so we were expecting it to be basic. When we arrived the main camping field was full and I would have struggled to get the trailer onto it anyway, so we were put in an overflow field down the road next to the river.
The field was borrowed from a local farmer so we were asked not to drive around on it too much which wasn't a problem. The grass was very long which made pegging out a little tricky but it was pretty flat.
There was no water supply or toilet on the field but there is a toilet and sink attached to the owners house in the village - a short drive or a 5+ minute walk.
The owner was really lovely and very friendly. The drive was a bit scary - You have to go down a couple of miles of lane to get there and there are lots of different routes you could take. After nearly losing my exhaust on one lane I can safely say that even with an unladen car there is really only one sensible route to the site.
You need to approach on the A5 and take a turning next to a big pub/b&b - it's signed Betws Gwerfil Goch 1 1/2 miles. Any other route in anything other than a high 4x4 is going to result in damage to the underneath of your car.
There is no shop or pub in the village, the nearest shops/takeaway/pubs etc are in Corwen about 5 miles away on the A5.
The location is beautiful if you enjoy walking etc.
From the info on the website we were expecting more from this site, what we were shown to was just a small holding field on a hill that had just been cleared of sheep so was pretty full with sheep dung and very coarse stubble so I would say this is one step up from wild camping. We have a delica off roader which we do use to camp in some hard to get to places and it was needed for this site. The camp field is very limited if you want a flat spot to pitch on maybe enough room for two tents and the rest of the field is very steep, no water or toilet apart from near the owners house and washing facilities weren't working so only a toilet. The access road is really really tight if you're towing and also single track so to be honest take a caravan and pray ! For the price its what you'd expect but only if you're into wild camping and walking as apart from lovely scenery there's nothing nearby so not a site for anyone with children. The website hypes the site up and it'd be fine for a night but nothing much longer due to the lack of facilities unless as I said you're happy to wild camp,
