We have just got back from here after spending 2 lovely weeks. The weather could have done with being a bit nicer to us but then that has been the case all over!
Le Clos Bouyssac is a very simple campsite. It is run by Pete and his wife Femke. It is situated on the edge of the Lot river. It is a very quiet site and you can easily oversleep thinking it is early as everybody is so quiet! It has 3 sanitary blocks. The toilets are unisex but 2 of the blocks are separate showers the third is unisex. All the blocks also have washing up areas and the ladies near the main entrance also has 2 washing machines and a tumble dryer (it was €3 for a wash/tumble)
It has a lovely 22m pool with lots of sunbeds and chairs. They also run activities through the week including a curry night with music (very popular), walks in the local area with a wine tasting visit in the middle and children's entertainment. Unfortunately as with many of these places it is rather Dutch dominated!
The river is a lovely attraction - you can fish to your hearts content, swim across to the other side (current fairly strong so need to be a reasonable swimmer to do this) or just laze about watching other people getting wet! We bought a small rubber dinghy which the children loved to have on the river. There are also canoes available to hire on a daily/half daily or hourly rate.
The site is well situated for visiting the local area such as Cahors, St Cirq Lapopie and the Grotte Du Pech Merle (prehistoric paintings etc).
Bread and other bakery needs can be ordered the night before from the reception and picked up between 8am and 10am. They also have a small shop on site for the basic needs.
The pitches are big enough to fit most tents (we have a Studland 8) and the majority face the river. There is a large Leclerc within 6 miles of the site which stocks everything (including our car battery!) as well as a smaller Intermarche and Lidl. There are lots of markets on in local villages and towns every week. The campsite has details of good local restaurants as well.
Pete is only too willing to help and his staff are also attentive to all your needs.
