Great site with new landlord and landlady in the pub on site. New landlord has had the path relayed to make access easier. Electric hook ups and room for awnings. On site pub as previously said has new management who are very friendly and welcoming as are the locals who use the pub, they have karaoke, pub quizzes, pool table, hot and cold bar snacks available. The site is local to all attractions, Crich Tramway Museum, Matlock, Matlock Bath, Alfreton, Ripley, Belper. Also lots of lovely walks in surrounding countryside, I would definitely recommend it for all year round as there is always something to do.

This was the first time we visited this site, two adults and two dogs; and we will definitely go back again. It was a quiet, clean site and the owner showed us where things were. The site is basic; running water, electric hook-ups and a waste disposal point; no toilets unless the pub is open; which was absolutely fine. The pub was clean and tidy, offering a restaurant and a bar area. Dogs were allowed in the bar. The bar staff and other patrons were very friendly. The beer garden was clean however someone had allowed their dog to foul the area without picking it up; which is such a shame as it might stop the owner from letting responsible dog owners taking their dogs.
Close by were walks along the old canal and up into the woods; very pleasant. There is a local shop approx. 1 mile away if you forget anything!
A great little site.

I stayed at this site with my OH and children ages 11 and 2.
We arrived and the site owner gave us an enthusiastic welcome. We had difficulty towing our caravan up the steep path to the pitches (It is very steep) We have never encountered this before as we have a Volvo which is usually very capable. We put it down to the extremely dry gravel, the wheels kept slipping. Anyway we decided to unhitch and used the motor mover to get it on to the lowest pitch.
The site was empty apart from a campervan.
The site had very basic facilities but this was ok as we are self contained. The toilets in the pub were available during opening hours. The owner had freshly mowed the grass on site and it was neat. The pub had a small enclosed garden containing a lawned area which was good for the kids. This proved a godsend as when the football was kicked on the campsite itself, the ball just ran down the steep path eventually ending up on the main road!
The pub to be honest had seen better days and was rundown. We didn't try any food there.
Overall a pleasant stay and a very peaceful site which is close to Matlock Bath.

Nice quite little site, ideal weekend or longer getaway, electric hook up, most pitches are on a level site and toilet facilities when the pub is open.
Pub food highley recommended, staff very friendly. Set in nice area with plenty of walks, and local for Crich tram museum,
Matlock and Matlock Bath not too far away and Belper, Derby, Alfreton all only a short drive or train ride away.
I have been using this site for a few years and while I am reluctant to disclose this site I think it only fair that others may share this little gem.
