We recently stayed at College Farm CL for 4 nights in May 2015. This was our third visit having stayed twice in 2010. The site is still just the same as before – 5 hardstandings with hook up adjacent although there is the option of using grass if you so wish. The water point is located just inside the site entrance gate [after passing through the farmyard]. The CDP is shielded by some shrubs close to the far hedgerow.
Bill & Veryan were almost always on hand to have a chat & to make sure everything was OK. Unfortunately on this visit we didn’t get to use The Paddocks tea room that Veryan oversees but the variety of home made cakes on offer has to be seen! They are only open Thurs to Sunday.
Remember to bring along a bird feeder as we were inundated with House Sparrows on our visit along with the occasional blue & great tit, robin, wagtail & the usual plump pigeons!
There are numerous walks available directly from the site including venturing onto Alkborough Flats via. The turf maze at Julians Bower, which is now a nature reserve due to the deliberate breaching of the river defences to flood what used to be pasture. We also did a cross country trek to Winteringham [visiting The Bay Horse pub for refreshments!] and returned along the river/estuary bank with views of the Humber Bridge in the far distance [10 miles]. The local roads are also relatively quiet for cycling. The nearest shop appears to be in Burton upon Slather which is a 3 mile walk south along The Cliff from Alkborough.
The farm is home to The Confluence Pedigree Limousin herd and they can be viewed when exiting & entering the site. They all have individual names on their ear tags and this year they were all “J’s” i. E. Jimmy, Jura, Jessop!
Whilst the entrance track through the farmyard can be a bit muddy at times, don’t let this put you off as this is superb relaxing CL and a bargain at £10 per night.

Have visited this site on numerous occasions and just had another 3 days at this wonderful CL.
Mix of hardstandings and grass all with electric. Conveniently placed water tap with the waste and chemical disposal screened by flowering shrubs. The very well kept paddock is regularly mowed and is planted with fruit trees and looks across the field grazed by the beautiful Limousin cattle bred by the owner.
Dogs are very welcome but as this is a working farm they need to be under control at all times. The whole area is great for dog walking.
There is a very popular tea room at the farm which is open daily.
There are numerous walks directly from the site and just about 100 metres or so from the farm entrance is Julian's Bower - an ancient turf maze. From here you can look across the River Trent to Yorkshire. On a very clear day you can even see York Minster!
If birdwatching is your thing you can walk down onto Alkborough Flats where there are several bird hides.
There are no shops in the village, the nearest is about 3 miles away in Burton where there is also a pub, coffee shop and take away. You can walk to Burton from the site along a lovely footpath with views across the River Trent. You can also do a nice circular walk to Whitton in the other direction, about 6 miles in total.
Normanby Hall is a short drive of about 4 miles.
This is a wonderful relaxing site where you can do as much or as little as you like. Very friendly and welcoming owners and at £10 per night with electric is extremely good value for money. Will return many more times.

A delightful CL site on a working farm (with beautiful Limousin cattle) in a small village. Hardstandings set in a spacious lawned area, each with an electric supply. Conveniently situated water point, bins and screened chemical disposal point. Last 3 miles along a narrowish road with a fairly uneven surface but no problem as long as you take it steady. Friendly welcome and the tea room on site highly recommended. Public footpath just along the road, part of the North Lincolnshire heritage trail, ideal for walkers/dog walkers.
