This is a good little certificated site in the village of Middridge, near Newton Aycliffe.
It’s a good base for Durham City and Raby castle.
Excellent pupil in the village with good meals.
Good value we enjoyed our stay.

This is a great site really peaceful but with good access. There is a field between the site and the road so you drive along edge of the field, down a private track to the site.
There is a pub, The Bay Horse, within walking distance, but can not comment on it as we did not visit it.
There is a field to exercise dogs in and a good information hut with a pool table in. Also able to borrow DVD's and books.
Good recycling facilities too. No toilet or showers at present. Although it did look like a toilet was being put in, in the information hut.
The Grass was cut when we were there and what a bonus it was collected while it was cut.
City of Durham is definitely worth a visit. Also Beamish open air museum. Price was very reasonable at £12 a night including electric.
Unable to comment on child friendliness other than there was space for children to play as large well laid out site.

This site provides a little oasis of peace close to the bustling towns of Shildon and Bishop Auckland. The decent sized field at the bottom of the private track provided ample space and with hardstanding, electricity, water, chemical waste disposal and an information hut with plenty to read plus a small billiard table on site, we considered it a steal at just £10 a night. If you walk back up the track, turn left back to Middridge, and cross over, there is a lovely waymarked walk alongside open fields where the dog enjoyed a good, off lead walk. Sadly the weather gave up on us when we got the dog back to the van so we did not try the pub in the village - perhaps the next reviewer will be able to provide feedback on that one.

This site is in an ideal location for anyone who wants to either explore the Tees Valley or Durham or just to use as a stop-over whilst travelling North to South as its only ten minutes from the A1.
Access to the site is through a locked gate and then down a path past the livery. There are five hardstanding pitches, EHU and a couple of fresh water points. There is also an Information shed with a pool table.
Newton Aycliffe is a five minute drive away where there is a large Tescos, Aldi etc. If it's a quiet pint you're after the village pub in Middridge has a good range of beers and the restaurant appeared quite popular whilst we were there.
There is a bus stops outside the site gates that goes to Shildon, Bishop Auckland, Newton Aycliffe and Darlington. This makes it an ideal site for motorhomes.
Overall an excellent site at a reasonable price and one worth visiting.
