 A lovely site over looking the Rhine, situated about five mile north of Ruddesheim. The approach is however not for the faint hearted as when you leave the main road and cross the level crossing it is a 3km drive up the hill on the vineyard roads!
Beware, there are two signed entrances, you MUST use the northern one if towing or in a motorhome as the southern entrance goes under the railway line via a very low bridge (OK in a car).
The site is built on terraces in a wooded clearing amongst the vineyards. The facilities are above the restaurant, there are 25 steps up to them, so be prepared to get fit!
There are only three showers in the ladies and gents but we never had to queue, although the site was by no means full, when busy they would probably be quite stretched.
The nearest shops are in Lorch or Ruddesheim but the owners have a range of products available to buy if required.
The owners are very friendly and speak good English. The on site restaurant, which is used by locals as well, prides itself on the fact that all meals are freshly cooked and was good value for money. Surprisingly it (and the bar) are closed a couple of days a week even in the summer.
This site is very well placed for visiting the Middle Rhine area which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
This was our first visit to Germany and we were not disappointed. We would definitely recommend it!
