 In a lovely location, unfortunately a little too near the N10 for me
You book and pay at the cafe next door,
Very good for overnight stops,
But not for more IMO

We have visited several times, very convenient to the N10. Traffic noise is only a distant rumble. Large open site with spacious marked pitches, beautifully situated next to river Charente and small town with a supermarket.
A range of restaurants in town and an inexpensive bar and takeaway adjacent to campsite (had delicious fish and chips earlier in the year). Good sanitary facilities but require more regular maintenance.
Fishing next to site (and canoeing).

This is a municipal campsite, very clean facilities, large pitches and ideally situated near the N10 (we did not notice any noise from the road).
There are 2 restaurants nearby (we only tried the the one right next to the site) and it was reasonable both on price and quality.
There are some management problems with younger people riding motorbikes through the nearby road and out the other side. It would benefit from the local police just occasionally driving around to dissuade the young local people making noise. But that's youth isn't it!
Lovely bakers just outside the site and a more than adequate supermarket 10 minutes walk away.

Visited this a lot of times over the past 10 years and the good points first -
Very good toilet block, spacious pitches very near a supermarket and 2 good restaurants within walking distance, very close to the N10 (however that does create noise issues)
However we regularly have issues with the site management, such as dogs in the shower block, it's used by tradesmen who have no respect for other campers eg barbecues till gone midnight with visitors from outside the camp etc. And lately the local youths playing football on the site until I complained at nearly 11pm despite a sign saying only campers to be on the property and quite after 10pm.
Use the site by all means if just for the restaurant Beau Rivage and Marmites
