Quite a large site, with touring pitches and a variety of cabins, caravans and ready pitched tents to rent.
The site is on the river bank, with access to the riverside path through several gates. Pitches are divided by tall hedges and there are plenty of mature trees.
There are a few pitches reserved for cyclists and motorbikes, which include decked areas with a table and chairs undercover - a blessing when the weather is bad, as it was during our visit.
The sanitaires are modern, with both toilet paper and soap provided. There is a games room and a small bar/takeaway pizza place on the site. WiFi is free for one device only.
It’s a short walk to town, not a lot of shops but there is a large supermarket and a castle on the hill, which can be visited on a guided tour.

We stayed here for a single night while en route to the Vendee,
This site is in a great spot, not far off the main roads, close to the river (which has a path along for a nice stroll)
Pitches were a good size, not massive but plenty big enough for our car, trailer and tent.
We used the take away on site to save cooking and this was reasonably priced and of good quality
The lady on reception was very welcoming, access to the municipal swimming pool was free with bracelets from reception, this is a short walk up a path from the back of the campsite. And is a lovely pool area, it was good to have a swim after travelling down from Calais.
Toilets were fairly basic but clean.
There is also a supermarket with petrol station close for cheaper fuel than on the motorway
Would definitely use this site again for a stop over or a couple of nights.

We stayed here in late May 2016 and found the site very well run and organised with spacious pitches set in beautifully well kept garden areas running alongside the River Loir. Each pitch was well separated from others and in excellent condition. All were with very easy reach of the shower block and washing facilities. The lady at the check in was charming and most helpful and friendly.
There seemed to be plenty of play areas although not used whilst we were there, together with a good sized boules pitch and games room. Facilities for the rubbish were close by and unobtrusive.
At this time of year the restaurant and little shop was not open but it is only a short and very pleasant walk into Durtal the little town complete with a wonderful castle and several shops. Strolling along by the Loir footpath was very enjoyable and peaceful. We were very impressed particularly with the wonderful setting and the amount of birdsong, the cuckoo called from morn till night.
The area is near many interesting little towns, be sure to visit Baugé, its chateau and especially the amazing Hotel de Dieu, a 17th century apothecary and hospital.
Would certainly revisit.

We highly recommend this site having stayed their for a week. The site is reasonably sized with very good grassed and hedged pitches. The facilities are very good and very well maintained and clean.
The location of the site is ideal right along the side of the river within walking distance of the town, bakery and amazing Chateau.
The site has a lovely welcoming and peaceful feel about it.
The family and staff who run the site are extremely pleasant and helpful. I don't usually leave reviews but we had such a good time and the family deserve to be mentioned for their excellent overall service provided.
10 out of 10! well done.

To Find Site:- The best approach to this campsite is to leave the A11 at junction 11 and take the Durtal bypass D652 towards La Fleche. When you get to the D323 turn right towards Durtal. Watch out for left turn down the hill which is signed to the campsite. The access road is not wide but should not cause an issue.
Camping Les Portes de L’Anjou is situated on the banks of the River Loir in the town of Durtal not far north of Angers. Not much English is spoken on reception. There is direct access to a path along the river from several points through the campsite. It is a long thin site stretching to the left and right of the site reception. It is more than likely that it is an ex Municipal campsite. The pitches, all on grass, vary in size but most are quite generous. Some are in little cul de sacs so without a mover access to these pitch could be difficult. However there are plenty of alternatives. Pitches seem to be allocated when booking in although you can ask to move if the allocate pitch is unsuitable. Also payment for short stays is expected on booking in which is a little unusual. Electric points are convenient to most pitches although a longer lead may be required for some pitches. They are rated at 10amps and use CEE 17 blue connectors, although best to check for reverse polarity. Water points are a bit sparse on the ground but there are a few dotted around. Grey water waste can be disposed of at the motorhome emptying point and either of the two chemical emptying points. There are two toilet blocks, the older one at the town end of the site which is of a good standard with unseated toilets but paper provided. The second block nearer reception is newer and of an excellent standard. Next to reception is a bar/snack/takeaway although interestingly bread cannot be ordered. The site has free WiFi but this is restricted to the area around reception. For children there is a small playground and also a small kick about area. Access to the Municipal Swimming Pool is also free for campers on application to reception. During the low season the site accepts the ACSI discount card.
This site is useful as a stopover or for a longer stay. The centre of Durtal is just a short walk from the campsite and there are some small shops there. For more serious shopping there is a Super you nor far from the centre. Pick up a town map from reception which shows an interesting walk around the historical sites in the town.

Nice campsite with easy access and riverside location nr to small quiet town centre. Pitches are a decent size and separated by shrubs. Electricity is 10amps. Fishing is available with requisite permits. Two supermarkets - inc Lidl, and filling station within walking distance. Though I must say I wouldn't fancy carrying back a load of shopping. Then again I'm in my 70s. Check distance on google. Some of you younger ones should be able to jog there and back with a 20 pack of beer under each arm.
The site has a bar/restaurant and a WiFi area.
We intended to overnight there but stayed three nights.
Using the ACSI Card in June for 2 pers, car, caravan we paid 33 Euros for 3 nights.
