Good little site that was hidden away and reasonable price. No path for a few hundred meters going down to hayfield but ok.

Good mountain biking and walking opportunities around area. 4. 1 miles over hills to Hayfield to avoid roads but steep inclines.

Enjoyed our stay there.

This is a good enough CS, but expect some road noise, as it's just off the busy A624. Even so, it's not that easy to find at the first attempt, especially coming from the north as we did; it's on the right and the sign is not obvious.

We had to go miles down the road to the first roundabout to turn back. From the south, it's about 1/4 mile past the Lantern Pike pub.

There is a security gate for which you will be given the code when you phone. From the inside of the site, there is a button to open the gate on the fence opposite the house. You don't have to lean over the gate (complete with barbed wire on top) as we did the first evening! Access is fine and the site is level.

Price is £10 per night with metered EHU, cost us about £1. 30 per day, can't complain about that, but we weren't told about this on the phone, the only annoyance.

The site itself is fine, nearly all hardstanding but with strips of grass to separate the huge pitches, enough for your Sky dish (signal obtained immediately), and recliners if you have good weather.

Nice views and a friendly collie who will visit. The farmer and his wife are also nice. Free range eggs can be bought from the parents who live in the next house up.

It's easy to get to everywhere; Hayfield is the nearest village but only has a small shop. New Mills has a Co-op and Sainsbury's Direct, Glossop a Tesco and plenty of shops (and Glossop Caravans).

Also try Castleton, Edale, the Goyt Valley, all lovely places with good walks to suit all levels.
