Have just returned from a weeks stay at Clowance Wood and despite very variable weather had a fantastic time!
The site is of a modest size and has basic facilities. Two toilets are available, one a compost loo, the other also houses a sink and mirror, both are clean and well maintained.
We pitched our tent on a flatter area at the top of the site which afforded us a fantastic view. It was a little more exposed than potential pitches at the bottom of the slope which appeared more sheltered but our tent coped so we were more than happy. Campfires are allowed and we made the most, using ours for cooking and the now essential toasted marshmallows! The site is enclosed by a wall and trees and this made us feel at ease to let our boys play without the worry of them wandering off the site. With plenty of space for games and a kickabout with a football, plus the discovery of blackberries to be picked they were more than content!
Very close by were woods to be explored. Which, with a fantastically detailed hand drawn map from the site owner, provided us with hours of entertainment exploring, den building, playing on tyre swings and walking through to Clowance Estate with its beautiful lake, gardens and play park.
The site is ideally located, being in a quiet area but still close enough to all the sights that west Cornwall has to offer which were plentiful and stunningly beautiful.
We found the site owners to be wonderfully genuine, warm and helpful. Knowledgeable about the local area and a real pleasure to have met.
All in all we loved it and will definitely be heading back to Clowance Wood Camping, the site may be basic but for us that's what camping is all about! We had a wonderful time and can't wait to return!

We were the only people staying on the weekend we went but we were given a lovely warm welcome including sunflowers and fresh herbs from the garden!
We camped at the bottom end of the field so we were a bit more sheltered. The pitches at the top of the field have a lovely view and are very flat but a bit open for our liking. The rest of the field is quite sloped but has been laid out in a lovely way.
The toilet is exactly as they say on their website, and is actually a camping toilet rather than a standard loo but this was fine with us. Only problem was there was no loo roll to begin with but this was soon provided once we asked.
The nearby woods were lovely and you could lose ages in there exploring - our boys loved them!
Will definitely return to this site again, probably out of season as with only one loo I'd be a little worried if the site was too busy.
Great little site, lovely location and lovely owners!

My wife and I stayed here over the Jubilee weekend and we enjoyed every second. It is a fairly new site and the blue 'campsite' os style signs helped us find it easily.
The facilities are basic ( the owners admit this on their website), but they are well maintained and immaculately clean. Being able to park my car close to my tent was a bonus though.
My wife and I loved being able to have a camp fire ( nothing like a fire baked potato or toasted marshmallows)
The owners are two of the friendliest and helpful people I have ever met, nothing seemed too much trouble, from us possibly arriving late to giving us some fire wood.
The site manages to be in a very quiet location, not too far from a main road but far enough to be very quiet and it is very close to some of the larger towns in the area, about 10 mins into Helston which has a large tesco and sainsburys or Camborne which has 2 tesco shops and a halfords and about 20 mins into truro or penzance. There is also a small wood opposite (sadly we didn't get chance to go for a walk)
I would recommended this site as long as you can manage with the facilities being a little basic and I am hoping to visit again soon.
