Les Capucines is a 4-star campsite situated in North Brittany just outside the small village of St Michel en Greve. The campsite is well sign posted from the D786 road and is approximately 9 miles south west of Lannion. Roads into the site are large enough for all sizes of unit but are of poor quality. Road junctions (especially when leaving the site) are tricky as it is difficult to see far up the main road.
When entering the campsite the first thing you will notice is a small roundabout with a lighthouse and boat in the middle. Reception is to the left of this. Some of the staff speak some English. Out of season the campsite accepts the ASCI discount card. There are 80+ touring pitches. Most have 10 amp electricity, water and drainage and are of a good size. There are a few smaller pitches which are intended for tents and have no services. Pitches are generally separated by hedges. There are no tour operators on site, but the site does have its own caravans and chalets for hire.
The site has two toilet blocks. The main block is reasonably central to the touring pitches. The urinals and most of the toilet cubicles are on the outside edge of the block and are unisex. Ladies do have a couple of more private cubicles in their half of the block. The toilets are not in their first flush of youth but are clean enough and work well. All toilets have seats, and paper is provided. There are separate rooms for the ladies and men’s showers and wash basins. These look to have been refurbished and are of a good quality. Showers are push button with a separate temperature control. This block also contains the laundry and dish washing facilities. Chemical toilet disposal is also here on the outside wall. It’s a bit narrow to use but generally ok. The second toilet block was only partially open. There were only 3 toilets open here and a couple of sinks. The showers were not being used. It was peak season when we were here and the site really needed to have this block fully open.
Facilities on site include a covered swimming pool, multi-sports pitch, table tennis tables, mini golf, a bar, and a small shop. These are all situated at the front of the site close to reception. In high season the site arranges a moules-frites evening, a crepe party evening and a pizza evening each week. Takeaway food trucks also arrive twice a week. There is a takeaway menu but it only operates between 7 and 8:30 on nights when other food isn’t available. In high season evening entertainment happens in the bar on some evenings with bands playing or karaoke. There is a dance evening which is worth going to just to see the band. I won’t spoil the surprise but you may recognise a couple of its members. There is a small bird aviary on site containing a parrot, cockatiels and budgies and there is also a small zoo at the far end of the site with a pony, sheep, goats, ducks and chickens.
Les Capucines is approximately a mile away from the closest beach (at St Michel). This is a lovely sandy beach, very clean and easy to walk to. Not so easy on the way back due to a steep hill. The village is small so for groceries you will need to drive to a supermarket. The closest one is the Intermarche on the road to Lannion about 8 miles away. Lannion is also the closest town of any size and is well worth a visit. Market day is Thursday and the market is huge. There is also a Super-U supermarket at Plestin les Greves which is a similar distance in the opposite direction. The tourist information centre at Plestin has a pack of 39 local circular walks for 3 euros. We found this was great value and many of the walks are along the coast so are very picturesque.
We didn’t visit many attractions in the area as we were content doing some of the walks and visiting the beaches (don’t miss the Ile Grande, Tregastel and Ploumanach), the local towns (don’t miss Morlaix with its aquaduct, Lannion and the historic Treguier), and the local villages. We also visited the port at Tredrez-Locquemeau and the port at Locquirec. The creperie at Locquirec is excellent.
The two attractions that we did visit were the Cairn de Barnenez and the gardens at Chateau Rosanbo. The cairn was quite interesting but a bit pricey at 6 euros each. The gardens on their own were 7 euros each and not worth visiting in our opinion.
We spent 18 nights at Les Capucines and had an excellent time. We found that even though this was August the area wasn’t crowded. We could drive anywhere without any traffic problems. This part of France is just so picturesque. If you love Devon and Cornwall but are not so keen on all the tourists then it’s worth giving this area a try, and Les Capucines is a fine base to do it from.

My wife and I have just returned after 9 wonderful days at this campsite. The owners make you feel very welcome on a campsite that is truly beautiful with very well kept grassy pitches bordered by manicured hedges and bushes. Most of the pitches are fully serviced with 10amp electricity supply. We frequently visited the bar where prices are very reasonable unlike a lot of sites in France where prices are crazy. Toilet facilities, showers and washing facilities are kept very clean. The on site shop has everything you would need if you ran out of the necessities. Supermarkets are located in towns either side of the site and only 10 to 15 minutes drive. From Roscoff ferry port is a very easy hours drive with a caravan on the back. The beach in the local village is very clean with very gently sloping access into the water. Ideal for young children. Will we return? This is for sure. Our advice is give this site a go and you will not regret it. Lynn and Bob Kean.

Our third year at this site.
Very friendly owners.
Large grassy pitches each with services to connect mains water and grey water drainage.
Swimming pool, adventure playground and animals (sheep, rabbits, budgies for the children, not applicable to us).
Lovely walking around quite lanes with splendid views of the bay. Also good for cycling with access to V routes within 45 mins by car.
Handy to Roscoff ferry 40 mins.
For the photographers sunsets to die for.
Thoroughly recommended.

This has to be one of the best caravan sites in France. We booked for 6 days and ended up staying for 10.
The pitches are very large and well maintained.
Most are fully serviced.
The owners are very helpful, and speak good English. The site is very clean and well maintained. It even has resident goats, rabbits and chickens.
The nearest beach is about half a mile away.
Don't be put off by the approach through Lannion. The surrounding area is fantastic with lots of fabulous small villages and plenty of places to eat.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Brittany give this place a go - We did and we shall definitely go again

I was very surprised to find that this well known delightful site had no reviews. It is a site that is very popular with British Visitors and we had a wonderful week here as the site is excellent. The owner is very welcoming and all facilities were in operation in September. The site was very quiet and only one toilet block was in use but this was kept very clean. There are separate facilities for men and women and the toilets all have seats and toilet paper. Hot water was plentiful.
There is a small heated pool with a covered roof, a safe play area for children, games room, takeaway food, bar etc. And free WiFi round the bar area.
The owner would like to host Rallies in the low season and the site would be excellent for that purpose. We had a very large flat pitch (and ACSI Card was accepted) although some would need levelling blocks. There are lovely trees and plants around the site although the pitches are open with small hedging between them.
The site was excellent but the area around this part of Bretagne is stunning from Loquirec to Perros Guirec and further afield. You would never tire of the wonderful coastline and walks. There was a article earlier this year about algae in the Bay about 2 miles away but the beach was pristine clean when we were there.
I don't think you would be disappointed with a holiday on this site in a beautiful part of Brittany

I agree with the previous review - this site is lovely. We have visited this site 5 times over the last 20 years and even though it's changed ownership a couple of times the atmosphere is still the same. Don't visit this site if you want clubs and entertainment.
There is a covered pool, sports court and mini golf + a small bar and a table tennis room. There is a small shop for essentials and takeaway food is available in the evening. The current owners are very friendly and helpful, the pitches are excellent and there are stunning beaches in the area which were clean and beautiful in August. The local beach at St Michel en Greve has tractors on after every high tide clearing the seaweed. Don't miss Lannion market on Thursday.
