We have just spent a week at Bankenhof and we were very happy!
Facilities are very good, members of staff very friendly, pitches on the 'Zeltwiese' were of good size (we asked which pitches are the biggest before we booked) and the view of the surrounding area was very good too.
Lake Titisee is only a stroll away (we took our bikes though to carry more stuff) and Titisee itself is either 5min in the car or 20min on the bike away.
Our children loved the freedom of exploring the campsite. When we arrived we were a little bit surprised by how small Bankenhof is in comparison to other campsites we stayed in Germany was but that turned into something very positive as it was quite (despite the campsite being full) and relaxed.
I think that bigger children and teenage groups have their own little pitching area is a good thing as it was really quite at nighttime.
Was it all good - sadly not. On the first evening we decided to go to the restaurant on site. After taking our order we waited for about 30min only for the waiter to come and asked us how our food was. It hasn't arrived yet we said. After another 5min the waiter came back only to ask us what our order was! Then the food eventually arrived (which was good) but still one meal was missing. When it came to pay the bill we expected some sort of good will gesture but no. We did not eat there again!
The little shop is handy, but we found the opening hours a little bit unusual.
The internet connection on the 2 computers in the reception area (free) was useless. We used our mobile internet instead.
One more thing - as the campsite is at a altitude of about 900m it got quite chilly at night. So better to bring an extra blanket and socks!

We stayed on the motorhome area at the site and were very pleased with everything.
Facilities are immaculate and very modern. Site staff very helpful.
Good base for Titisee - the lake is a 5-10 minute walk; the town takes about 40 minutes.

Absolutely first class with plenty of spaces for pitches. Showers, toilets, water supply, waste disposal all immaculate. Bikes are available for hire though we took our own. Washing machine and dryers available, small shop and restaurant Site is well placed for trips such as ours - Rhine Falls, Colmar, , Lake Schluchsee all withing an hour ish.
Lake Titisee is beautiful and can entertain for days. Family owned site, really friendly, managing a site head and shoulders above others in area - the users reflect this too.
Tariffs very reasonable, electric on separate meters so you pay as you go with low prices.
Definitely one to return to.

First the good;
Excellent at reception
Exceptional toilet block
Very friendly restaurant reasonably priced
Now the downside;
Seriously overpriced - one night for 2 cost us 25€ plus 8€ for electricity - 33€ - plus 2€ extra for card payment!
No view of the Lake.

PERFECT! This was an amazing find. We aimed for another based on out satnavs directions, but thankfully it was full and the manager directed us here. We liked it so much, we stayed for a very relaxing 3 days on our European tour. We are planning to return next year. It is lovely. The pitches are reasonably well spread out, giving you plenty of room to put awning and tables. The newer toilet and shower block is outstanding. Wifi is available for a basic charge. It has a pretty bar/restaurant and a lovely well stocked small shop which takes fresh bread orders. Washing machines and dryers were there too. Best of all is the surrounding forest, which leads to lake Titisee. We spent a day at the 'beach' paddling, swimming, watching the cruisers. Everyone was friendly, hardly any Brits, but we were chatted to. I really recharged here, and will be back. Note though. Strangely, the town at the end of the lake shuts by 8pm pretty much! The restaurants just close, and the shops were all shut by 6!

This is an excellent site in a very picturesque location, near to Titisee and the lake and ideal for walking, mountain biking or road cycling trips. There is also the Konus card free to tourists that means you get bus and train locally for free!
The site has excellent facilities, well spaced and alrge pitches, on-site bar, decent shop and wifi.

Have to agree with the previous review. Lovely site. Was pretty busy when we were there, but not so much as to be a problem.
Good facilities on site, never had to queue for showers etc. Nice playground, small restaurant on site (we were right next to it and weren't disturbed by noise, unless people chatting counts!) which we only used to buy chips to go with the rest of our dinner :). Very friendly owners and internet access available in reception which can be handy.
Titisee itself is quite nice, if a little touristy down by the lakeshore. There is a path which follows the edge of the lake down to the town, quite a way but very pretty so an enjoyable walk. Good area for walking in the hills, too. There's a 'beach' area at the southern end of the lake where you can swim or access the water with paddleboards or canoes etc.

Had a great time here camping with two teenagers and a five year old.
The camping field is a long strip, with plots marked and some electric hook up points - not all are flat but it was not too busy so possible to find a plot that suits your tent.
Upon arrival you are given a site plan and the chance to have a walk around and find a suitable plot before committing.
The large main building at the entrance housed plenty of good quality showers and toilets which could meet demand. The four sheltered washing up sinks could sometimes be a bit busy at peak times.
There was a separate block for children under 10 which my 5 year old son loved, with its duck taps on the sink and duck shower head - a lot of thought had been put into making children welcome in their own facility.
In addition to the outdoor play area for children, there were some toys in the reception area and every day at 5pm a children’s film was shown upstairs in the main building. We were lucky to have brilliant weather for our stay so were out and about using our free KONUS card.
It was only a short walk up the hill to the bus stops where the bus would take you into Titisee town and train station or up to Feldberg in the opposite direction.
During our stay we spent 2 days exploring Freiburg travelling by train and making use of the trams within this city. We travelled to Feldberg by bus and spent a day walking up the Feldberg and caught the bus to Todtnau to go on the Hasenhorn coaster - the longest toboggan run in Germany - all the children loved it! In fact we returned for a second visit (avoid weekends when queues are much longer).
Several late afternoons we went swimming in Lake Titisee on the shore at the Sandbanks campsite and took our inflatable dinghy on there. Once we took the boat down the stream from near Bankenhof reception into the lake (did get a bit silty nearer the lake though).
There were several good walks and cycling seemed popular in the area. We enjoyed several walks including into Titisee round the lake and a couple of times down the hill straight into the campsite from Feldberg Barental station.
We did visit the Badeparadies which was expensive and packed whilst all the local children are off. There was no queuing system it was just who barged hardest- not fun when queuing on stairs. They also failed to tell us that your time starts the moment you enter and if you are late leaving back through the turnstiles after dressing you are charged per extra 15 minutes. Best avoided unless out of season.
One of the reasons we stayed in the area was because the children were keen to go to Europa park. We bought cheap tickets via Tesco club card scheme but they may no longer be available.
The drive took no longer than 90 minutes - the drive through the Holental valley was always enjoyable. We spent 3 days there arriving early each day - 2 of the days spent cooling off on the wet rides in between the others.
There were few large rides for which our youngest was too small but baby swap passes were available and second parent could take someone else on which meant one of our other boys could go on again.
On these days when we returned too late to cook outside our tent, we ate in the on site restaurant ‘Seewaldstube‘. The food was good and the owners friendly. The children particularly enjoyed the eggs and ham in a pan with bread.
The site had washing machines and a washing area in the reception block. The family who owned the site and mostly manned the reception were always helpful and could understand our limited German (some family members spoke excellent English). They even gave the children a memento of our visit upon checking out.
We really enjoyed ourselves on this site and found lots to do in the area - would definitely return.
